Awake?

I jolt awake. I shove the pain away. My body trembles and the loss of blood is affecting me badly. But I can make it. I can make it to the studio. I know I can. I pull myself up, despite my body's pleas to stay down. The worst possible sight greets me.

It's him.

He's awake.

His cold, hard eyes bear into my body. His hand reaches out and grabs my neck, lifting me up. I can barely breathe, but his grip gets tighter. Am I finally going to die? Is this it? It can't be any worse than dealing with him every night. I could join Mom. Hot tears fall and his laugh rings out.

"Death is too easy." He says and throws me at the door. He turns away. I am taken by shock. I'm not dead. I scramble to grip the handle and run out. The cold wind hits my face and begins another wave of pain. I take a few steps but find myself on my knees. The world begins to swirl. Then it spins. It spins out of control. All I can hear is my own breathing. I can't feel anything. Nothing. The pain is gone. I notice the wetness on my face. But it's almost like it's not my own face. It's like someone else's, but it looks like mine. The same pale, broken girl.

The swirling colors begin to fade and black expands over my sight. Soon, it covers it all. Then, in one swift blow, everything disappears.
