Meet me at the lake. Midnight rowboating 2nite. K, babe? Read the text from my boyfriend, Ashton. Can't wait! :) I texted back. I LOVED going midnight rowboating. We always go out to this lake that nobody really knows or cares about, but you can see the moon right there. It looks like if you paddle far enough, you could touch it. It looks like it's kissing the water. On normal midnight rowboating dates, we'll just wander on the water talking, kissing, dreaming...but on special occassions, he'll take me midnight rowboating with dim orange-lighted lanterns and those little electrical candles.

I wore a red miniskirt with black tights under, and a black shirt that said "Risk It.", along with a denim minijacket since it was a little chilly. I put on my leather boots and grabbed my keys around 11:45 and drove to the lake. I got there at around 11:55 and I saw him setting up the lanters and candles, which made my heart start to pound excitedly. I quietly snuck up behind him, then threw my arms around him, making him jump a little.

"Hey! You're early! No fair!" he teased in his cute Australian accent. "Life's not fair." I told him, smiling. Then he turned around and put his arms around my waist and whispered in my ear "And you know how much I love life..." and kissed me. Woah, kissing already? This must be one BIG occassion.

Once we were in the boat, he stared at the big moon to the side of us and smiled dreamily. He was really quiet and I grew anxious, wondering what it was. I looked at the lanters and candles and drifted off in my mind. Then I felt a hand touch my knee and I snapped back to reality and looked into his golden eyes. He stared at me and I stared back lovingly. Then he broke the silence.

"Everytime I bring you here...I think about the same thing. I think about being here...not as boyfriend and girlfriend." he said and my jaw dropped. "You're breaking up with me?!" and he smirked and shook his head. Then he kneeled down on the boat and put his hand in his pocket and took out a small black case and I clasped my hands over my mouth and my heart started to beat faster and faster. "Jade...will you marry me?" he asked, opening the case to the most perfect ring. A tear fell from my eye to the boat and I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him.

"Yes." I whispered, and he held me tightly, warmly, and lovingly as a cool breeze briskly flew against us. "I love you." he said to me. I smiled and giggled. "I know." I said back.
