"Hunters are moving in." Alexandru said to Octavian. It'd been a few days since the drug incident. I was always watching my every move and I was completely horrified if anything else should happen to my husband and my son.

"How are you feeling?" Octavian asked. The two vampires were in his office. I was on a couch in the room playing with Levi on my lap.

"I still can't hear or smell as well." It started with Alexandru's sight. He wasn't able to see in the daytime but soon got his eyes adjusted. His speed was gone and whenever he tried using it, he'd get lightheaded and have to sit down. Lately it's been getting better but it's coming back just as fast as his hearing and smell. He can't hunt and that is putting a strain on his strength.

"Gabriel is going to choose a date to attack. Now that I'm in a weak form, there's no denying that that date is coming fast."

"I didn't think the boy was that smart."

"He's not a boy, Tavian. Not anymore. This Hunter is a Man now. He's been trained for this. And that family of his has had their eyes on me ever since the incident at the ball all those years ago."

"Then let's get out of here." Octavian sat down after pacing the room. Alexandru sat behind his desk.

"Leave Transylvania?"

"Yes!" Octavian sat back up and wore out the carpet some more under his feet. "Leave here and move ... to America. Get away from all this hunter business. It is more safe in the states than it is here in Europe."

Alexandru sat for a moment in his chair looking worn out and tired. Never before had I seen him look this way. These past few days he's looking more and more human.

He let out a breathless sigh and rolled his head back on the chair he was sitting in.

"I have never ran, Octavian. I have stayed in this castle for over six hundred years. How does one just simply leave their home?"

"Come back when hunters aren't a problem—"

"By then Maggy and Levi will be dead!" I flinched at his harsh and angry tone. Octavian gave him a dumb look in response.

So he has thought about the future.

Alexandru was staring daggers at his closest friend.

"I will not run from a fight." For the first time. I realized who I had married.

I had married a warrior, a prince, a territorial vampire. His brain was born in the 15th century! His morals and pride rest in the Middle Ages. His pride is that of a warrior's. He has been in brutal war and has lived to see nations fall and revolutions fought. He was no twenty-first century millennial.

"You aren't a prince anymore Drac." Octavian declared. "You have a wife and son to protect now. You are not running from a fight ... but winning a life with your family."

"What f*cking life!?" Alexandru shot up and clenched his fists. My husband spoke as if I wasn't in the room. Something inside told me that he had completely blocked me and Levi out of this room and away from his next words. "I can't f*cking die! I can't die and Maggy and Levi f*cking can! I can't have dreams but I know what they would be f*cking full of. They'd be full of her growing f*cking old without me and Levi f*cking growing old as well. I'll just keep f*cking living and never be f*cking happy! I hate being like this! I hate it! I hate it here! I f*cking hate this sh*tty castle! This sh*tty country! This sh*tty world! I hate God! I hate this f*cking curse that I am f*cking under and I hate being a f*cking vampire! I hate that Maggy is f*cking human! I hate that we had a f*cking son together! I f*cking hate that I even gave the time to fall in love with her! Because all I could think about was being a sh*tty human again! But that's impossible! I will never be f*cking happy! I will never be f*cking human!" He stopped. If he were human he'd take a breath. He looked down and choked in tears. His head then raised and his blurry eyes rested on me and my red, tear-stricken face. He placed a hand on his desk and leaned on it, as if he was going to pass out. His combed hair was no longer in order due to his angry let out. He looked sick and tired. The poison he'd consumed out of me was taking a larger toll than I thought it would. It made me wonder if he'd experienced this before. Did he know the consequences of sucking my venomous blood?

As anger tried to seep into me at my husband's nasty words, I held onto the love I knew he had for me and for our son Levi.

"Maggy ... " I met Alexandru's eyes as he leaned towards me. His voice was faint and his eyes red. I then watched as his eyes rolled back and his tall frame of a body collapsed on the floor.

"Alexandru!" I cried. I set Levi down on his back on the couch and ran to my unconscious husband. Octavian was there before me cradling his best friend's head in his lap.

"He's asleep," he sadly said.

"For how long!?" I demanded.

"Maybe a few hours."

"What is a few hours?" I was angry. Angry that Alexandru didn't care to share the extent of the suffering he was enduring.

"Twelve hours at the most." I wiped at my face and allowed the bald vampire to carry Alexandru to our bedroom. He laid him down in the coffin and shut the lid. Locks automatically closed and clinked together. A spell that Alexandru had placed on his own hiding spot.

"Octavian," I began. He turned in my direction as Levi rested on my hip. "Tell me what's wrong with him." I glared at the pale vampire and he only slightly nodded.
