Present day...
"Miss?"
I snapped out of the trance and looked down at the customer I was serving.
" I'm so sorry, I zoned out. What can I get for you?"
The man looked at me strangely, then back down at his menu and proceed to give me his order. After he was finished he handed me his menu and I walked away to put his order in.
My day continued on and by the time I looked at the clock the next my double shift was over. I gathered my things, clocked out and left to make the treacherous trek back to my apartment.
Now a three month pregnant broke college student, I can say that it has been very hard. And considering I don't have anyone to help me, it's even harder. But nevertheless I'm determined to make something out of the situation and learn from my mistakes.
"Hey! Kennedy."
Someone screamed from behind me.
I stopped and turned around as the person approached me.
"Hey, my man Damon told me about you. He wanted to know if you took care of it or is it still there."
The mystery man said.
" Excuse me but I don't see how that's any of  your business or his for the matter. So go about your business and leave me alone." I said cradling my lower abdomen protectively. His eyes followed my actions, then he turned on his heels and walked away.

As Resumed on my journey I couldn't  help but get emotional because after three long months Damon had the audacity to send one of his goons to see if I was still pregnant, after he told me to kill my unborn child. I don't know what I ever saw in him that was good.
After a few more minutes of walking I finally made it home. I closed and locked the door behind me. And started to strip out of my work clothes, the one good thing about working at a restaurant is that I don't really have to pay for food, whatever they don't use at the end of the night they let us take home before they scrap the rest. So when they don't use all the eggs, milk, bread that was made that week, or food that was made but was not served. And although I'm working full time and I get tips, I'm still saving up to buy the essentials that my baby will need. Plus paying rent and utilities and also putting money to the side to buy a little cash car, I can say that is had been very stressful for me.
