Aithlyn's POV

Someone shouted, it sounded like...like FAYLEN!!!. "NO NO NO" the words echoed in my ears, I bolted from the cave that held my armor and weapons for years. The cool crisp air stung my throat and lungs, my legs strained under the weight of my golden armor. The familiar feeling of being engulfed in my pitch black cloak and my sword at my side. I could've smiled but before any of that could've happened I need to make sure they were fine. They had to be, I can't lose to them not again. As I ran through the snowy forest small creatures fled from my path, they probably sensed my hostility. I could feel my pupils dilating over and over again into slits, "calm down, everything is going to be fine, they're going to be fine" I practically yelled at my self. Still my mind kept fleeing into the possibilities that they could be already dead or..., "NOOOO, stop it" I yelled continuously. I had to keep running, I had to save them. I throat burned, my lungs strained, and my eyes watered. Still I had to keep running, run till I saved them. I could see the house finally, it was a soft reassurance. I barely had time to notice the blast that erupted from my left side, it was painfully smothering. I dropped my weight and slipped on the snow, I tried to catch myself before I fell when another blast made me lose the remaining balance I had. I slipped and fell. My right elbow connected with a rock sticking out of the snow, scrapping a long line of tissue across my forearm, it began to bleed like a river immediately after. The blood trickled down my arm, warm and sticky. As I stood up unsheathing my beloved sword my armor concealed the blood from my opponent who now stood in front of me looking to kill.

Faylens POV

I stood with my body protecting Eldrin, he stood shivering from the cold and fear. He clung tightly around my waist, he was wearing a forest green wool sweater and insulated brown pants. At least he was warmer than I was at the moment I was wearing a beige short sleeve shirt with a brown vest over the top and a black skirt. It wasn't my best achievements in weather wear, I had definitely made a mistake. They had grabbed us and dragged us outside to the front of our small farm house. Eldrin and I stood and shivered surrounded by humanoid looking men carrying weapons. They talked in an odd way, almost like chittering. Their legs rounded and curved like the hindlegs of a dog, their arms were muscular and fat, their hands ended with three long padded fingers. And for their heads, I really really hoped they were wearing masks ,not to mention they only wore black. I watched them closely waiting for an exit, then the worst thing that could possibly happen, happened. They pointed at me, I already knew what this meant. They were going to kill me...

For years I had an ability or a sickness, I could read a person's mind. It usually got me in trouble though, especially during school. I would always start fights, it wasn't like I could turn it off. People always thought I was lying and I had gone through their stuff, but oddly I could never read my mother's mind. I didn't remember if I could read my father's at all. But that was also around the time I stopped going to school to help my mother with caring for Eldrin, he was still a baby. When Eldrin was born I had been eight years old, now I was nearly sixteen. But I guess my life was going to be cut short..., I was in a daze as they ripped Eldrin from my side. I couldn't hear him screaming even though I knew he was, big giant tears slipped down his cheeks as they lead him away. He still continued to struggle as he tried to reach for me. He was trying to save me, but his efforts would be in vain. My arms were limp as they hung from my sides, my hands were dead weights. I fell down to my knees, I was never going to see another sun fall. Tears burned in my eyes, my vision began to blur. The men pointed their guns at me waiting for the captain to give the order. I let my gaze fall to the bracelet on my right hand, the only thing I had from my father. It was small and red but meant the world to me, then I heard the gun go off.
