School

I sat silently as my aunt drove, I watched as the dry and bare land whipped past. I was listening to music so I didn't realize exactly when I had fell asleep. When I woke up I was on the couch. I sat up and stretched. Looking around I grab my glasses from the coffee table and put them on while standing. I walk to the kitchen, there a note was on the counter from my aunt.

Hey Kai, I don't know when you will be up but I was called to the hospital on an emergency. I don't know when I'll be back but I just thought you should know.

I sigh as I look for something to eat, we moved here a few days ago. I will be going into junior year when school starts up again. It will be a few weeks and I am NOT prepared for this. Each year I was in school I had to go to a new one. Hopefully I'll be able to finish school here. I walk upstairs without anything since we don't have much. It was late so I decided to go to bed.

I walk up to the front door of the school after being shoved several times. I walk into the front office and got my schedule since we weren't there for the open house.
I walk into the class. The teacher told me to sit anywhere I want so I sit more towards the back. Soon enough students filled and then trouble. I was reading on my phone when it was suddenly ripped out of my hand. Out of instinct I kicked the dude and grabbed my phone. Looking at the dude on the ground I glared. "Pardon me but that was rude." I state annoyed. He scoffed and limped away. A good way to start off the year, Kai. I thought sarcastically to myself. "Okay welcome back everyone. We have a new transfer student here with us! Hana how bout you tell us a little about yourself." I mentally cringed as she dead-named me after asking her to call me Kai.. "hi..." I weakly started after standing. "My name is Kai.. my.. dead name is Hana. I come from Indiana so coming here is actually a nice change for me." I sat down embarrassed and uncomfortable with the glare that came from the teacher when I said 'dead name'. Well you should have used my preferred name if you didn't want to get called out, now you have to use that name to not appear as transphobic and homophobic. "Oh, sorry for dead-naming you Kai. But with that out of the way let's get onto the lesson." She said my name as if it was venom.

It was lunch time, I sat outside with another group of people there. I stayed away from them as best as I can. I was sketching out some anime characters so I can outline them later. "Hey your the new girl right?" Someone asked before chuckling. I just ignored them. "I think her name is Hana." Said another student. I ignored them best I could but with them getting closer to me was getting more difficult.

It was finally after school and I could walk to the hospital to wait for my aunt to finish her afternoon shift. As I was about to take the first step I felt a sharp shove, soon after someone else caught me. "You could have killed her!" I re-steadied myself and thanked the person. I walked past three vehicles that caught my attention. Their energy was... different. As if they were alive in a way. But I brushed it off and made my way to the hospital. When I got there my aunt and another lady was walking out. The other lady had long black hair and bright grey eyes. I didn't want to stare too long so I just walked up to them. "Oh kai! This is June. I work with her." My aunt said happily. "Hello." I said quietly.
