Ha Rin joined BTS in January of 2013, only months before debut. The decision had been thought over very carefully for long periods of time.
With BigHit no longer wanting to release girlgroups under the company they had only three choices for their remaining female trainee. Park Ha Rin.
1. Debut her as a soloist! This was a good plan, BigHit were sure that they may be able to make quite a bit of profit this way. A female rap soloist would also be a nice breath of fresh air from what the industry was currently used to. However, the girl had expressed a wish of wanting to be in a group, so that she wouldn't be alone and BigHit wished to at least honour that.
2. Send her to an affiliate company. This is one plan BigHit wanted to avoid at all costs. They wanted to debut Ha Rin under BigHit Entertainment itself. Not allow one of their affiliate companies to take the glory of her debut.
Which to BigHit left them with only one option. To debut her under an already ongoing project. Of which they had one. BTS.
So, the decision was made for her to be added to the boy group as its only female member! Ha Rin was told by the company that she would be joining in January. Months before debut. She was expected to learn the Choreography and her lines in the song quickly and bond with the others. But she took it all in her stride. If this was her only chance at debuting she would welcome it with open arms.
