Admiring her handy-work, the stumpy girl's gaze met the sign clumsily balanced atop the wooden structure. "Fuwafuwa Ellen's Magic Shop" could be seen childishly painted in an intense shade of ruby, reminiscent of the girl's traditional dress. Alongside her lightly-tanned feline companion, she bounced back inside to gather all her required items before strolling back out, her voluminous blonde locks bobbing enthusiastically around her.
"Hey! Sokrates," she called out to her furry friend, "do you think the neighbours will like these gifts I got them?" The cat nodded uncertainly, peering anxiously at the bric-a-brac craddled so lovingly in his mistresses' arms as they both bounded up the cracked and cobbled path. Without a moment's hesitation she knocked vigorously on the door, eagerly awaiting reply; Sokrates (having the better senses of the two) was reluctant, the decrepit manor leaning forboadingly over them.
"What a fool, what a FOOL you have to be to come here~!" A gloved hand gripped Ellen's shoulder - or at least, attempted to. The ghostly figure's fingers slid right through her form, causing it to stumble and Ellen to leap back and scream. "Scram, you pest!" an elderly woman belted, scrambling out the chipped doorway brandishing a broom. The apparition chuckled before deftly sliding into the dim cloak of the shadows.
"I apologise," the old lady lowered the broom "that's the resident poltergeist - right mischief maker she is, scarin' the life right out'ta anyone who comes near."
"Eh? What's that Pam?" a wrinkled man emerged from the timbered structure "Kana botherin' der passers by again?"
"Kana...that's a pretty name..." Ellen pondered; immediately afterwards she remembered why she'd sort out this lively wisened couple. "Um... I've brought some things for you two!" Ellen thrust out the assortment of odds-and-ends she had been grasping towards them "I hope this can suffice for a welcoming present - I look forward to being you neighbour!"Much to Ellen's surprise, a crinkled, gentle smile appeared on the woman's face "The gift is much appreciated dearie - feel free to come here whenever you feel like it suits you - me and Tom would enjoy the company." As if she had abruptly sunk into a trance, the greying lady gazed at Ellen, conjuring up a certain familiarity in her turquoise eyes. "Although, I have to admit, you look quite a bit like my late grandmother, you do. She used to be a blondie, only her 'air was much shorter-"
"Pam, I ought to think the chicken would've cooked by now!" the hunched gentleman hollered from the battered steps.
"Just a minute!" Pam turned back, swiftly thanked Ellen for visiting before hobbling inside, once more swallowed by the hazy mystery that enveloped the queer building."Kana..." Ellen faintly whispered "I wonder what she's doing here..." Inquisitive thoughts dancing around her childish mind, Ellen and Sokrates strolled leisurely towards the shop. Upon return, she thought "Tomorrow, I'll discover who that ghost girl really is." Content with her newfound goal, she dozed off, vivid dreams of that vague figure floated to and fro - just who was Kana?
