It seems like an unlikely and random method but Roku itself has recommended it as a matter of fact. HDMI cables are known to cause interference between the streaming sticks and their respective remote controls on rare occasions. If you have any spares, feel free to try out different HDMI cables. Originally the one you used may just be incompatible.
