Iris's POV:

My eyes fluttered open, today was the day. For everyone, once you turn seventeen, you get a mark showing where your soulmate touches you. I sat up, pushing my warm blankets off my body and slowly sat up. I ignored my looks at they wouldn't matter for right now. I put my slippers in my feet, trying to ignore the cold tile. I never really thought about why my floor was tile other than carpet but I didn't really mind. I got closer to the mirror in my room, the suspense slowly building up.
I stepped in front of the full length mirror, scared to look at my body.

Looking up, I stared at my face first, examining my amber eyes and ginger hair and tan skin. Nothing on my forehead, nothing on my cheek. I looked at the rest of my face then noticed a black finger mark on my lips. I looked closer, wiping at it making sure it wouldn't come off. Panic began to set in. I raised my hand, rubbing my fingers through my hair until I saw it. A black hand mark On my wrist.
I moved my hands down then stared at my right wrist.

I rubbed my skin roughly, my siblings must have gotten black paint. Yeah that's it. I tried to reassure myself. Running over to my closet, I grabbed some clothes and awkwardly got dressed. I threw my long ginger hair into a high ponytail and threw my clothes on. Even though I was just going downstairs, It was best to get ready for the day. I looked in the mirror, fixing my jean booty shorts and crop top. I put on a fake smile, until I noticed the third mark. I handprint of my waist.

"What the hell?!" I shouted and ran downstairs. I understood a prank for my wrist and lips but my waist was too close to comfort. When I got downstairs, Isiah, Isaac, Iven and Izekiel were sitting downstairs, all eating cereal. "What's got you in a bad mood?" Iven asked, looking concerned. "Why did you paint these marks on me? That's not funny, today is the only day I can see them and you guys shouldn't have been in my room either!"

They all looked confused. "Iris, no one has been in your room. We've been waiting down here for you to tell us the good news." I looked at Isaac confused. "You really don't see these?"
I put my hand on my hip, wrist and lips showing where they all were. My brothers looked confused. "Hold on, Iris how do you have three? That's not normal."
My little sister Ivy ran in and took a seat next to her twin brother Izekiel. "Whats Iris ranting about now?" She asked scoffing. "Ivy shut up, I got three marks instead of one and im freaking out." She studied me confused. "I don't see anything." She said giving me another quick look. "You're Sixteen, you won't know till next year."
I snarled, beginning to pace around. She put her hands up, surrendering. My mother walked in the room, soon startled by the loud noises of my siblings and I trying to figure this out. "Kids, get ready for school." She said calmly. We all kept bickering.
"No, you should go look for them!" Isaac shouted.
"No, you should wait for them to come to you!" Ivy yelled. My mother stood there, waiting. After we didn't get quiet, she raised her voice. "Hey!" She shouted, getting us to all be quiet.
"Dump your bowls and get ready to go. School starts in twenty minutes.
My mom didn't care about our problems. We had a problem? We took car eifert it ourselves. My mom was just there to make sure we had a place to sleep, we were alive, fed and that was it. My brothers got up and dumped there bowls into the sink and rinsed the extra cereal down the drain. My three other brothers did the same. We all grabbed our bags by the door and slid out shoes on. We all waved goodbye to our mom and began to leave the house.
Iven grabbed his skateboard and rode off, making a quick exit. Isiah and Isaac both walked while Izekiel and Ivy got in the car with my mom. I grabbed my bike out from the garage, and rode down the street.
