Chapter 1

Cleo's Pov

I was walking along the dock when I saw him. Zane Bennett. I really despise him and so does my friend Emma. I try to avoid him as much as possible so I turn around and head the other direction. "Cleo, hey Cleo?" Zane calls my name. I slowly turn around and give him a look of confusion. "What Zane?" I ask clearly annoyed. "My zodiac won't start and I need someone to pass me the tools." He says. "Can you help. It won't take long." He replies waiting for an answer.

I slowly walk over and hop into the boat. "It took me some time but then I realized someone took my spark plug." He says while I rummage through his tools. "Can it start without one?" I ask him. "No spark plug no spark." He says as he pushes the boat off the dock. "Zane." I scream while I start to panic. "Have fun Cleo." He screams back as he leaves the dock.

I just sit down quietly wondering how I'm going to get back to land. I feel the boat sway slightly and look up to see a girl. And it looks like she was holding Zane's spark plug. "You took Zane's spark plug." I ask her while she plugs it back in. "Anything to annoy Zane shouldn't be a bad thing." She replies back as she looks at me. "Thanks Rikki." I reply giving her a small smile. "Wanna take Zane's zodiac for a quick run?" She asks looking back at the key ignition. "Why not. It'll give me a chance to get to know you." I reply as she starts Zane's zodiac. "Alright let's go." She says as we start moving.

Rikki and I are constantly laughing when I suddenly see Emma. "Hey Emma you want a ride." I yell to her which startles. "Are you license." She asks Rikki who replies, " Are you my mother." Rikki stops the boat next to Emma who climbs in. "What are you guys doing with Zane's zodiac anyways." She asks us which consist of Rikki and me looking at each before we start to laugh. "I took Zane's spark plug and I guess he took it out on Cleo." Rikki replies as we head further out into the ocean.

3 hours later

Rikki, Emma and I are sitting in the middleuu of the ocean while Rikki is trying to start the zodiac. "Are we chilled out yet." Emma ask Rikki who just glares back. "So we're out of gas. You guys feel the rowing to that island." She replies pointing at Mako Island. "No that's a bad idea." I reply while she's picking up the oars. "Well we don't have much of a choice do we?" She asks while she gives Emma an oar who starts paddling along with Rikki towards Mako Island.

As soon as we step foot on Mako Island Emma takes out her phone. She takes one glance at her phone before she looks back at us. "We gotta get to higher ground so I can get service." She replies before she starts walking towards the woods. "Come on we better follow her." I say before Rikki and I run to catch up to Emma. When we get to higher ground I suddenly slip into a hole.
