Izuku: 4 years old

"I'm sorry, but your son is quirkless"
Hizashi stormed out of the doctors office while Inko bundled up the crying Izuku in a hug. When they got home, Inko told Izuku to go upstairs to his room for a little bit, but he still heard his parents fighting and yelling. The fighting only got worse every night, for years. Hizashi started taking his anger out on Inko and Izuku, and they tried to protect each other best they could.
When he turned nine, Izuku's dad went to bed without a word for a week straight, which both Izuku and Inko found a little odd, but they didn't want to get him mad, so they didn't question it.

They should have.

At midnight, Izuku woke up and smelled smoke, and soon after his mom ran in limping, picked him up and started running to the front door.
"Mommy what's happening?" Izuku started to tear up in fear and confusion.
Inko ignored the question and payed more attention to the crackling of the roof. It was coming down and there was no way they were getting to the door in time, as she was injured. She turned the small boy towards her and made him look up at her "Izu, I need you to listen to me right now. I need you to get as far away from here as possible and find somewhere safe to stay" she handed him the bag she had "if you ever see your father again, you run do you hear me? Your so strong, I know you can do this. I love you so much, remember that"
The roof cracked again louder this time, and Inko kissed Izuku on the forehead and pressed her ring into his small hand "go now"
"But what about you mommy?"
"I'll be fine, just start running"
Izuku listened to his mother, and ran though the house and out the front door, right as the roof came down behind him. He was young, but he wasn't stupid. He knew his mother had lied and that she was gone. He collapsed on the doorstep and started sobbing. A few minutes later, he wiped his tears, filled with a newfound determination to make sure his mother didn't die in vain.
Izuku looked into the bag his mom had given him. There was a change of clothes, 2 water bottles, and about $300. He ripped a loose string from the jacket he was wearing and used it as a necklace to put Inko's ring on. After he made sure if was secure, the green haired boy started running away from the scorched house to find a new place for him to stay.

Shinso: 4 years old

Shinso sat at the table eating dinner with his family and he was super nervous. He had gotten his quirk at school today, and all of his classmates were scared of him because of it. He took a deep breath, this was his family! They wouldn't be scared.

Right?

"Hey mom! Dad! Guess what!"
His mom smiled at him "what is is honey?"
"I got my quirk today!"
"Really!? Well what is it?"
"Umm, what's 2+2?"
"4? Wh-" his mom's eyes looked glazed over and she froze, while his dad started freaking out
"Hitoshi! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!"
"I'm showing you my quirk! Hey mom, go get an extra fork"
His mom did as he said, giving him the fork when she came back, and he snapped her out of it. She stepped back looking scared, while his dad just looked mad.
"Dad? Mo-"
Don't call us by those names. No son of mine has such a villain quirk. Get out of here"
"But dad-"
"I'm not your Dad! I'm said leave!"
Hitoshi trembled and ran upstairs to his room, putting all the things he wanted in his backpack. He Could tell that he wasn't wanted here, and he would rather be somewhere else where people actually cared. He went out the front door without saying good bye. As he was walking, he started to think,
Am I even allowed to call myself Shinso anymore? I mean my family pretty much disowned me so, am I just Hitoshi now? I think so.
As he was walking, he stumbled upon an abandoned building that was still in pretty good shape, so he decided to make it what he liked to refer to as 'his secret hideout'. Over the years he fixed up the holes (he was glad his dad liked building and taught him a few things) and added little decorations to make it feel more homey. Because he was too young for anyone to consider paying him to do something, he would put his brilliant acting skills to work and act as cute and innocent as he could so people would give him food. He was lucky that he had his growth spurt early, and could pass off as a short 13 year old when he was 7 if he tried hard enough, and that's exactly what he did. By lying and saying that he was 13, people started letting him do little odd jobs around the neighborhood, like babysitting or watering someone's plants once a week.
He was now nine years old and getting along pretty well. He was always a resourceful kid and was super smart and mature for his age, which is probably why he wasn't dead yet.
Hitoshi was walking home from babysitting one of the neighborhood lady's kids, and passed by a park. He decided to walk through it for a bit, as if it got dark he could protect himself if anything were to happen.
As he was walking, he heard a little wimper coming from a cluster of trees near the edge of the playground. Curious, he walked over and found a boy, no older than him, asleep on the ground. The boy had dark green hair, and was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants that were covered in ash and dust. It was obvious he was having some kind of nightmare, so Hitoshi decided to wake him up. He lightly shook the mystery boy's shoulder until he shot up with wide eyes.
"Mom!" He looked around confused for a second, before eyeing Hitoshi "who're you?"
"My names' Hitoshi"
"I'm Izuku" he hesitated a little "just Izuku"
"So uh, I was wondering Izuku, if you have anywhere other than the park to sleep, because if not, your welcome to come home with me"
"How do I know your not a serial killer or kidnapper or what not"
"I think your just gonna have to trust that I'm not"
Izuku studied Hitoshi's face, before sighing "fine. Anything's better than here" he got up and leaned on the tree to get his balance, and once he did he looked to Hitoshi for directions.
"All right, follow me Izuku"
Hitoshi started walking and Izuku followed until they got to an old abandoned apartment building. Hitoshi swung in through a window because the door was boarded up, and Izuku hesitantly followed, obviously confused.
Hitoshi lead the way up a few flights of stairs and unlocked a door at the end of a hallway, that looked a lot newer and more taken care of than the doors to other rooms. The room on the other side was large, and had an attached kitchen and bathroom that seemed to be functional. The walls were painted a lilac purple color with black trim and there were a bunch of mismatched pillows scattered about. There was a mattress in the corner with black sheets and a black cabinet next to it. The light was coming from a small lamp on the ceiling.
"Sorry it's not much, but I think it will be better than the ground in a park"
"I think it's great Hitoshi!"
"Well your welcome to stay as long as you like, it gets lonely so it's nice to have someone around"
After that Izuku just never left. The boys ended up telling each other everything there is to know about them and now that they are 15, they're more like brothers than anything else. At some point they even came up with their own name to tell people when they ask for a family name, Tsuihō, which means outcast. They thought that since they were the outcasts of society anyway, they might as well embrace it.
Later, they had found a little white kitten that was abandoned, and decided to take her in. They named Her Hana, and care for her as if she was their own kid, which she kinda is.
Despite mostly teaching themselves things and taking online classes, the duo never really went back to school, but are both super smart nevertheless. They both want to be heroes, and aced the written exam of UA high, but even though they trained nonstop, couldn't defeat any robots and are in General Studies together.
