I slowly open my eyes and notice the ground beneath me. The sky is completely dark and the wind howls, shaking the trees around me.
I get up and look around. I have never been so confused in my life. It was as if I wasn't where I'm supposed to be. Wait, where was I exactly?
I look around and I spot something in the far distance. Something past the eerie and gloom graveyard. A person? Now I was really worried.
I take a few steps towards the hooded figure and stop. They turn around and I see blood covering their face. Lightning flashes, lighting the person's face up. Were they a werewolf? Their face seems a little exaggerated or creepy and flat. They have a scar on their right eye and their other eye is red.
The hooded figure snarls and howls echo throughout the graveyard. Five, no, eight large looking werewolves materialize behind them. They weren't normal looking at all.
Their eyes are glowing blood red and their bodies are enormous compared to any male werewolf I've ever seen. Their claws are the size of a gorilla’s fist and their fur is dark and matted with blood.
The hooded figure points a sharp finger at me. They start saying something but I can't make out what it is.
Then they charge towards me and I swifty turn around and run for it. I turn my head to look behind my shoulder and see on of the demonic looking werewolves an inch away from me. They were incredibly fast. Faster than anything I have ever seen. The large werewolf growls and swipes a large claw at my head. I duck and without even noticing, trip over a tombstone.
I quickly get up and brush the dirt off my pants. My heart skips a beat and I turn my head the face the alarming group of beasts circling around me. They part and the hooded figure approaches me.
They take their hood off to reveal two wolf-like ears. They growl and focus their good eye on me.“You and your god forsaken damned family will die! There is no escaping what I have planned for you wretched fiends!” The figure yells.
Their voice is femine and raspy. Raspy enough to make me cringe. A loud crack of lightning and thunderous boom, causes me to jump. I look back at the wolf-like figure and she lunges towards me.
***My eyes shot open and I lay there. My heart is nearly beating out of my chest. What was that? It almost felt like a nightmare. Maybe it was.
A cold chill runs down my spine and I place a hand to my head. I rub my temples and frown. Not only did that frightening thing just happen but I remembered last night.
Last night is something I can't stop thinking about. I don't know what pushed me to bite her that hard. But at least I didn't go crazy. I guess the push of my hormones caused me to act as I did. Neither the less, I felt a whole lot better then a few days ago. Well expect just then.
The body still worries me and its rotten grotesque features won’t leave my mind. Whatever is down their, they seem not to care. It’s like they know or maybe they don’t know at all. I’ll take the ladder option.
I have never had such strong feelings for anyone. It was always an odd encounter then a goodbye. I know I'm a mess but I didn't think something like this would...go this far.
What would my mother think! Wait no, I shouldn't think about that right now. I don't really want to. That's for another day.
I huff and slid back down into the covers. Only this time it was much harder to go back to sleep.***
I feel someone tug on my arm and my eyes shot open. I get up and turn to see Ophira hovering over me, grinning. Her eyes narrow at first then they soften.
"Hey, are you doing okay? I didn't mean to...well you know" she mumbles, furrowing her eyebrows.
I shake my head "You don't have to apologize again" I laugh. She looks up at me and smiles. She sits down on the bed and grabs my hands. My eyes widen and I look down at our hands. "Cia and Mika put me up to some shenanigans the other day. I wasn't sure what to think but last night something might have pushed me to do and say what I did. I never meant to alarm you like that" she says, laughing a bit. I frown then gaze up at her. "I meant to tell you...but my mind was elsewhere," I say then stop. Am I able to say it now?
I tighten the grip of our hands, looking at her. "Ever since we met, I wasn't sure what to think. I was glad to have someone with me. Someone who didn't want to try and hurt me. I was confused and scared in this new world. But these last couple of days with you have made me realize something. Without you, I wouldn't be here now. If I was brave enough to I would have said it earlier but, I love you too."***
I stare back at him and the feeling of butterflies filled my stomach. I know that's corny but, I can't really describe it better. I would have never imagined that he felt the same. I only wondered.
I find myself nearly tackling him into the bed. I raise my upper body and gaze down at him. "So it's settled. We have googly eyes for each other. I would have never imaged it happening" I tease, smirking. I hear him snort. "Please! That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard you say" he pauses then looks up at me "Phira" he whispers. I stare down at him and my heartbeat quickens. "Y-yes?" I answer, almost squeaking.
Julian gives me puppy dog eyes and I groan. "Whaddya want you...mutt?" I tease. He gasps and frowns at me. "Well, I was going to ask for you lay here with me but, I guess not." I roll my eyes and drop my weight on to him. I hear him let out an 'oof' and rest my head on his chest. "I didn't mean that rough!" He protests. I laugh and wrap a hand behind his neck, gently playing with his hair. He sighs and looks up at the clock. Julian reaches a hand over to my face and gently cups my cheek. We stare at each other longingly until he slowly gets up.
He quickly kisses my cheek and I huff at him. "Oh, now you don't want to do anything crazy. Scare we might get caught?" I tease him.
Julian raises an eyebrow then laughs. "Are you serious? I'm being cautious compared to that stunt you pulled last night" he says, winking at me. "Well, sorry. I respond, turning my head in embarrassment. He chuckles, hugging me back. "I could if you want to but I'd rather not right now." he teases, giving me an assuring look. Then the door swings open.
***Silvaus steps in then backs away quickly. His eyes widen. "Woah there! Didn't mean to barge in and ruin the moment. I just came to check on you. One of the girls said they heard some talk last night. Then it got suspiciously quiet. I guess no one felt like checking in last night" he says, scratching the back of his head.
I look up at him and awkwardly laugh. "We were chatting, sorry. Everything's fine now don't worry" I answer, feeling myself grow slightly uncomfortable in the situation we were in.
Silvaus laughs and shakes his head. "Great! I hope she didn't scare the crap out of you. She can get people's souls to leave their bodies if she has to" he jokes. Ophira growls, tightening the hug. "Oh trust me. If I would have taken his soul, you would have heard his body hitting the ground!" She sneers.
The older werewolf raises his eyebrow. "Don't kill him! Geesh you're crazy. Anyway, they're having breakfast again and Thando wanted to talk to you two. Don't keep them waiting" he informs, turning around and walking away from the door frame.
Ophira releases me and frowns. "Do you think they know?" She asks. I sigh, looking down at her. "Whatever it is...might have to do with what I discovered" I answer. She grabs my hand. "We'll make it I promise. I want to leave here as much as you do."
