Alex woke up in a hospital bed, John and his goons were beside him. John was reading a book like usual "aw. John came to give me a visit?" He asked he didn't know why he was here, but he'd been to the hospital enough times to recognize it. John looked over to Alex, "Welcome back to the land of the living Alex," Alex chuckled, his voice strained as he spoke, "what happened to me, John?" John sighed, "well you found the culprit, we caught them so don't worry about that, but they heavily injured you, it may be a few days before you're able to leave." Alex nodded, leaning his head back into his pillow "ah I'm sure I've had worse, almost lost my leg a couple of years back, you remember that John?" John just nodded, it was a terrifying day for everyone, Alex couldn't remember much, only the blaring horn of a truck and waking up in the hospital.
John got up "look, Alex, I have to go, but ill call you whenever you get out of here, we have much more work to do" Alex looked at him "What do you mean?" he asked, confused. "That was not the only favor you owe me, there's still a few more," John stated, walking out of the room not waiting for anymore conversation, after he left a nurse walked into the room, staying silent as she changed his bandages, gave him his medicine, and walked out, Alex fell back into a deep slumber, knowing this would probably be routine over the next couple days. Alex was right; he spent the next couple days, mostly sleeping, eating, or taking medicine. Nearly two weeks passed, Alex was now standing in front of the hospital, staring at the front door, he chuckled, glad to be free once again.
Alex grabbed his phone from his pocket, called John. The phone rang three times before John picked up, "Alex, you out already?" John asked, "Yeah, takes more than a knife to keep me down," Alex said, walking over to the sidewalk, "can you come to pick me up?" Alex asked, not entirely sure about where he was, "Yeah, yeah, you still outside the hospital?" John asked, he sounded tired, there was a lot of noise in the background, "yeah, I'm still outside the hospital, how long do you think it'll take you to get here?" Alex asked, noting the noise in the background, "should take at most fifteen minutes, just wait there."
Ten minutes passed, fifteen, twenty, forty minutes later, John pulled up beside Alex, who was now ticked off, being very impatient, "what happened, you were supposed to be here half an hour ago," he stated, holding his phone in his hand. John shook his head "I got caught up with traffic, nothing to worry about," John said, waving his hand dismissively.
