"Lion Guard. Its our job to protect the Pride Lands. And that job just got a lot harder. Its gonna be a tough fight, but we will defeat Scar." After Kion said that he looked back into the den at his father. A tear formed in his eye as the thought of almost losing him came back into mind. "I cant thank you guys enough. If it werent for you Dad would be......gone." It pained him to think of it. A tear rolled down his cheek. Fuli and Bunga put one of their paws on Kions back. "We're with you Kion. We always will be, no matter what." Fuli said giving him a reassuring smile. "Thanks guys. Well, we better get some rest. No doubt Scar has plans for the morning." Kion said with his ears flat. "Night Kion." They all said. "Yeah, night." He said with his head hanging low. Everyone had left, except one. Fuli. "You alright?" "Its just its been a really rough day." "I can imagine. You wanna talk about it?" "Yeah. But Im really tired. Maybe some rest will help." Kion said with his head still hanging and ears flat. "All right. Night Kion, and dont worry, he'll be alright. And we're with you, to the end." "Thanks Fuli. Goodnight." When he went in to the den Kiara and Nala were sound asleep with relieved smiles on their faces. He then looked at Simba. He knew that he had the cure, but he could tell that he was still affected by the sting. And he knew he would be for the rest of the night. He walked over to Simba and nuzzled his mane a few times as he said, "I love you, Dad." Simba replied with a weak smile. He layed down next to him and closed his eyes. He felt very uneasy. He looked at his Dad. He then moved his paw close to Simba's so Kions paw was touching his. He felt calmer and safer and fell asleep.
Some hours later (its still night so we all know what this is)
The sun had risin and Kion woke to find only his father there."Mom and Kiara probably went to get a drink." He thought. He walked over to his Dad. "Dad? Are, are you awake?" He said nudging him gently. No response. He got anxious. "Dad. Its time to wake up." He said nudging him harder." No response again. "Dad?" Kion said the fear clear in his voice as he put his ear against his side. Kions eyes grew wide and filled with tears. There were no signs of life. No breaths going in and out, no stomach rising and falling nothing. "N-no, we, we saved him. Rafiki siad he was gonna be alright! Dad! Daddy, please! Wake up! Wake up!" He said through sobs and nudging him desperately. "No, Daddy. No." He sobbed laying down under Simba's paw and crying into his lifeless body. Just then all the outlanders came in but quietly. Vultures dropped branches with fire inside Pride Rock. Scar appeared. Kion slid out of Simba's paw and saw him. "You, you monster!" Kion said the sadness and anger clear in his voice. "You really think you could have saved 'Daddy' from certain doom?" Scar asked sinisterly then laughed. Kion just looked at him sadly. The hyenas came out in attempt to grab him. Kion dodged them and swiped them with his paw. As they all kept coming he kept attacking. Even though he felt his energy being sapped with every move. Then the vultures swooped to distract him. The jackles crocs and hyenas took their opportunity. They all lunged at him and pinned him down. Kion struggled and tried to get out of their grasp. Then he heard something coming towards him. It was the scorpion that poisened his father. Kions squirming became more frantic. He whimpered as the scorpion climbed up him. "Goodnight Prince Kion." Scar said then laughed. The scorpions tail went towards him.
Nightmare over
"Ah!" Kion exclaimed. Kiara was too deep in sleep to hear it, but Nala and Simba woke. Simba kept his head down. "Kion? Are you alright, sweetheart?" Nala asked. Kion didnt answer "You had a nightmare. Didnt you?" She said. Kion nodded. "Im sorry I woke you." Kion siad as he got up and walked out of the den. Nala was just about to follow him when she heard grunts from Simba. "Simba, lie down. You dont have the strength." "Im fine, Nala." He insisted. "No. Rest, Ill speak with him." "Nala. He saved my life today. What kind of father would I be if I didnt go talk to him after something like this? He needs me." Nala sighed knowing there was no way of talking him out of it. "Alright. Just please, take your time and dont overdo it." "I will. And I wont overdo it. Now, get some sleep." She smiled at him.
Meanwhile
Kion was sitting on Pride Rock. "Grandfather? Are, are you there?" Kion asked. Nothing. He sighed. "I guess even the Lions of The Past need sleep." "Im not surprised. My father never liked to be woken up. Thats Mufasa for you." "D-Dad? What are you doing?" Kion asked tears in his eyes. "You need rest, you need to get better." "I know son. But Im worried about you. That nightmare really got to you." "It, its nothing. Really." Kion said looking at the ground. "Kion." Simba said in a gentle and caring way. "Please, just talk to me. I love you, and I want to help you." "I dont know if you can help me. I dont know if anyone can." It hurt when Kion said that. Expecially because Simba knew he wouldnt be able to help. "You may be right. I might not be able to help you." Simba lifted his paw and put it under Kions chin and lifted it. So the two of them looking eye to eye. "But I can only know for sure if you tell me." Kion hesitated and gulped. "You, you didnt make it." Kion said his voice breaking. "Sc-Scar was laughing. The, the outlanders were everywhere. And they trapped me. And the-" Kion gulped. "Scorpion." tears streamed down the cub's face. Simba leaned forward and nuzzled his son. "Im so sorry you had to see that." Simba said continuing to nuzzle him. "But its ok, you saved me. And Im not going anywhere. The nightmare's over." "Its not over though." Kion said as slipped away from his father. Simba looked at him confused. Kion took a deep shaky breath. "Dad. There's something you need to know." Kion said as he moved closer to Simba. "When we got the ash and went to escape we were cornered. By every single Outlander. We were cornered out on a ledge, we were right near-" Kion stopped and gulped. "The lava. I had to use the Roar. If I didnt we, we would have fallen in. Simba was shocked. "No, no. Please tell me your having a joke." Simba said to him. "I would never joke about today." "Kion, I-" Kion cut him off. "There's more. He said then took another deep and shaky breath. "They wernt just working together. They're working for someone. And it, its Scar." Kion said tears streaming down his face. "Sc-Scar? Your not so great-uncle? But he's dead-!" "Dad. He, he's made of fire. The Outlanders brought him back." Kion said through tears. "And, and when I was about to use the Roar he said, I would make the volcano errupt. Just like I did when I helped him return. I dont wanna believe it! But if its true I-" Simba couldnt hold back any longer. He lifted his paw, put it on Kions back and pulled him into his chest. Simba put his chin on Kions head Kion hesitated for a second then hugged him and sobbed into his mane. Tears formed in Simba's eyes. "Not only did Kion nearly lose me, but I nearly lost him." He thought. He had no intention of holding his tears back. "Im so sorry Kion. This is my fault." "What do you mean?" Kion asked his voice muffled by his Dad's mane. "If I was more aware that scorpion wouldnt have stung me. And you wouldnt have had to go there. And you wouldnt be having these nightmares." "Even if I didnt go he'd still be back. Its my fault. If it wasnt for me then-" "The Pride Lands would be worse off. And I wouldnt be here. I owe my life to you, and the Guard. You and your sister are the best things thats ever happened to me. And I couldnt be more proud of you." Simba said and gave him a nuzzle. For the first time that night Kion smiled. "Thanks Dad." Simba and Kion gave each other a long nuzzle. Kion yawned. "You should get some rest." Kion said. "You should too. Go ahead, Ill meet you in a second." "Dad? Can I sleep with you? Just for tonight?" Simba smiled lovingly at him. "Id be more than happy if you did." Kion smiled. Simba watched him walk into the den. He then sighed. "Father. If you can hear me, help me help Kion. He may be leader of the Lion Guard but he's still a cub, and my son. I fear these nightmares may get worse. He will have to face many dangers in life and all I can do is guide him on the right path. I want to help him as much as I can, and protect him from the pain I went through. I know it will be an impossible task, but I want to try." Simba yawned. He slowly walked back towards the den so he didnt tire himself out as he was still weak. He saw Kion laying there fighting to keep his eyes open. Simba smiled lovingly at him. "Its alright Kion. Sleep." He whispered continuing to walk over to him. Kions head quickly fell on the floor and his eyes closed. Simba layed down behind Kion (the same way as he was lying before.) He closed his eyes then after a second streched out his paw. He put it over Kion and pulled him into his chest. For the remainder of the night he would hold him close as if he was afraid to let him go. Some time after Simba fell asleep Kion woke. He smiled and burried his head in the King's mane. And fell asleep.
