My Imaginary Love
"i love sleep;
my life has a tendency to fall apart when im awake"Cora Vine stared blankly into nothingness. The fifteen year olds iPod screen was black, the last of the charge had expired a few moments before. Slowly, she stood up of her bed she had been leaning on for the past half an hour, scrolling through Instagram posts that didn't mean anything, looking at accounts that were tiny dots in the world that had wrapped itself up in problems. She sighed as she slipped of her crimson red pyjama t - shirt and navy bottoms, scattered with prancing small white reindeers."Cora I'm not going to ask you again, get in the bloody shower!" Her dad called up, his husky voice determined and powerful. Cora sprinted into the bathroom and pulled the blue plug that made the harsh, warm water pour out like small, gushing lakes. It felt painful - the water was hot and stung her skin, but comforting. She had him in her mind, all the time; every second of every day. The boy with the beautiful blue eyes. Cora's heart sunk droopily to the bottom of her chest, it really was impossible. He didn't know her, never had spoken two words to her, but she was so attached. She didn't know why. Cora knew it was love, but tried to pull her away from the fact, otherwise she knew her soul would only be ripped up into tiny pieces when he never came. Cora closed her eyes. Imagined him, walking towards her, his pupils twinkling in the fading light of the setting sun, his pearly white teeth making her feel so loved and important, their toes scrunching up in the golden sand. Reluctantly, Cora knew she wasn't. She was just Cora. Boring and hated. Unloved and very, very alone.
As she swiftly stepped out of the white, slippery bath tub, the cold waves of air hit her and she began to shiver. Cora wrapped her towel around her, and tip toed into her room; the bumpy grey circles rough beneath her feet. Sat in front of her was a Albino tiger. Obviously not a real one, but a stuffed toy she had one a couple of years back from a boy that she really did fancy called James. Cora curved her thin fingers around its stripes and whiskers and looked deeply into its piercing, misty blue eyes that stared back at her. Then, she looked up through the window to see her particularly new puppy - whom she had named Halo - racing around the dead leaves beyond the garden. He looked so happy and glad to be alive, even if he was being chased by Cora's sister and her mum. Strangely, her heart starting beating really quickly and she let out a long sigh. Her dimmed eyes looked up as she searched around her turquoise room for a pair of socks that would be strewn somewhere around the floor; and there he stood. He smirked a teasing smile and blinked quickly. He was in her room. Standing on her floor. In her house. She didn't really blame herself when she passed out on top of her new Gucci jeans.
After a while, Cora felt her eyes flicker open. Everything around was blurred and spun like a carousel she wasn't allowed to get off. "Cora!" Someone shouted faintly, "Cora!" She sat up with a start. Her towel was loose and had unwrapped itself from around her. Her head banged inside her skull, she felt nauseous and unstably dizzy. As she toppled upwards, she realised that she must of had a funny turn. He wasn't there anymore. The place where he had been stood was now empty and the only movement in her room was her wooden oak door slightly swaying.
