Dreaming of Roses

Chapter 4

The drive was uneventful. There was traffic, but they lived in Toronto, the biggest city in Canada. There was always traffic. Parking was the issue, and because Chloe was wearing high heels, she didn't want to walk too far to get to the club. Jeff dropped off the girls, saying he would come and meet them inside after parking the car.

Caitlyn had a chance to compose herself on the way to the club. She insisted Chloe sit in the front with Jeff, so she could zone out. She resolved again to have a good time, and dance all night long. She pulled her cell phone out, and called her house. There was no answer, and she left a message for her mother telling her that they were out with Jeff, and she would be home by curfew. Caitlyn knew that as long as her parents knew where she was and who she was with, they wouldn't mind if she pushed the limits of curfew. Caitlyn was always responsible, and her parents trusted her implicitly.

As they got out of the car, they realized there was a huge lineup of people waiting to get in. Chloe snorted, and walked over to the bouncer. She smiled, and asked him very sweetly if there was something she could do to convince him to let Caitlyn and Chloe into the club. The bouncer eyed Chloe up and down, and Chloe stated, "I love to dance! I bet most of these people won't even dance, they'll just stand against the walls and watch everyone else." Chloe then proceeded to give the bouncer an example of just how she would dance.

He gave her a look, but unclipped the rope barrier to allow them to pass. Chloe had what they were looking for in the club, and it was obvious that Chloe and Caitlyn would not enter one without the other.

The girls had never been to this particular club. Down the long entranceway they walked, and Caitlyn had the feeling she was walking into another world. It was dark, and there was loud dance music blaring over speakers strategically placed to ensure the most heart pumping experience.

They emerged into a huge hall full of people jumping up and down, in sync with the music, arms up in the air. There were groups of people here and there, around the outside of the dancers, talking and gesturing to each other. Waitresses were squeezing their way through the crowd of people, offering water, juices, and energy drinks. At the front of the hall was a stage, where the DJ was responsible for keeping the crowd moving.

"I don't know how Jeff will find us in here!" cried Chloe. Caitlyn made a thumbs down gesture, to let Chloe know he wouldn't. "I'll text him. Let's go wait under that lamp that has a burned out bulb, that way he knows where to find us. This is awesome!"

The beat of the music, plus her fairly empty stomach, and the events at the restaurant had Caitlyn feeling like she just wanted to lose herself in the music. She closed her eyes and let it transport her away. The waitress came by with bottles of water, and Caitlyn and Chloe sucked them down as if they'd never drank water before. All of a sudden, Jeff grabbed Chloe, and spun her off to the other side of the room.

Caitlyn continued to dance. Beat, beat, beat, dancing to the beat of the drum. She opened her eyes, and wondered where the lights were coming from. Reds, blues, greens were flashing all over. Then the lights became little moving spots of white light as if there was a disco ball spinning at the top of the ceiling. As she moved, Caitlyn realized she was sexy. She was sexy! The movements spurred by the dancing, the lights, the water...then the people started breaking off into couples, boy girl, girl boy, moving as one.

Caitlyn danced, and the couples started moving very sensually. As men and women undulated, their teeth started flashing, fangs exposed, piercing veins, in the neck, arms, and even faces. The blood started spurting, and the men and women revelled in it. Fountains of blood everywhere, adults sucking at it, kissing, dancing, and panic started to make its way into Caitlyn's chest. What is happening? What is this?
