Chapter 1: Unfortunate Event

Lovett wipes her trailing sweat on her forehead with her forearm as she sighed tiredly, eyes red and swollen. A whole week made her energy drained of the unfortunate event that she encountered. Yesterday is the burial of her parents. They died in their sleep a week ago. Apparently, they didn't said anything about their sickness and just keep it to themselves. Perhaps they knew that she didn't have enough money to pay medicals, honestly she didn't have enough money for at least buy them gifts; the only present that she only gave them is this house; that she is now currently living.

However, she did find thousands of money under their bed after their death a week ago. She didn't understand why her parents didn't use it for their sickness. Since she doesn't have any money to pay for funeral, she used the money.

Regret filled inside her at the thought of her parents. She loved them so much, she didn't even have a chance to say good bye. Burrowing her brows as her eyes are filled with sadness. She didn't even notice anything unusual that's happening with their parents. The last thing she saw them was happiness, she visited her parent and they looked so excited when they saw her.

She slumped on the couch tiredly, she lay her head on the headrest of the couch. She's almost done packing. All the important documents she need and some items that's important to her. Later tonight, she'll have to check some papers. Being a teacher in high school is really difficult; she doesn't have the time to rest. She has to wake up early tomorrow.

Another tired sigh escaped her lips as she rubs her temples using her point and middle fingers, easing the upcoming throb in her head.

A tune rang in her cellphone.

She groaned. Pulling her phone in the back pocket of her jeans. She looked on the screen.

Ah, Chica. Her best friend.

She swiped her phone.

"Yes, chic?" She rasped.

"L, are you alright now?" She asked worriedly.

A small smile appeared on her face. At least she has a friend to be with her sad or happy times in her life.

"To be honest with you? I'm not. I haven't sleep, I took a nap but it's not enough. And I haven't eaten anything. And later I have to check some papers." She can already feel a migraine in her temple.

She got up and walked through the kitchen, she open the handle on the refrigerator and pulled a cold pitcher filled with water, placing it on the kitchen table. She open a cabinet filled with different kinds of glasses and pulled one. Placing the glass beside the pitcher. She filled the glass with water using her free hand. After that, she placed her lips on the rim of the glass, the cool water touch her lips as she drink. Taking a large gulp. Her dry, scratchy throat was now gone.

"About that. You don't have to wake up early tomorrow, L. I already tell the principal that you need a week rest. Luckily he knows what happened to your parents so he agreed right away."

"What? But. The deadline of the scores are tomorrow. And I haven't record a thing yet." Lowering the glass.

"Don't worry about it. I'll go in your house today at two in the afternoon; I'll check it up for you. And I'll cook you something while I'm there.'

Lovett place the empty glass close to the pitcher. She turned around, leaning on a nearby sink. She grin. Putting her free hand under her occupied arm.

"Really? Thanks you so much Chika. I owe you one." A relief sigh escaped her lips.

"Pff. It's not a problem, L. you should rest. I'll be there later." She said in finality.
