Before I could say a word the lights flickered on. Standing by the light switch was Charlie Simmons, his eyes alive with rage.

"You're f*cking dead, Loughty".

I was helpless as Charlie took me by the collar of my hoodie and repeatedly slammed my head against the back of the door. I scoped out the room hoping to find a way out besides the door I was being bashed into, my hope deteriorated as I realized he'd locked us into a janitors closet, it was lunch and no one would even hear me scream for help.

"You little f*g, think you can turn me homo?" Charlie barked at me while tossing my body onto the floor. I watched as he paced back and forth, hands running through his gorgeous black locks. Oh shit nonononono NOT GORGEOUS! "This can ruin me y'know? You're a disgusting little b*tch!"

"L-listen," I spoke, my voice barely a whisper, "We we're both very very drunk on Friday... S-so why don't we just forget it and pretend you don't even who I am anymore?", I stumbled over my words.

"I'd love nothing more than that kid, but I think someone walked in on us at the party and there's a chance they'll spread rumours you dumbass!" I watched as Charlie pinched the bridge of his nose. God he looked cute when he was stressed.

No! Please don't think cute! Bad Ace, bad Ace!

"Well if they do just say that it was a prank! S-say one of your friends from another school would pay you some amount if you did. It might not be the best cover up but it'll work!"

"I guess, just stay away from me you f****t!", Charlie barked, kicking me away from the door as he reached for the handle. "And don't come outside of this room until five minutes after I do. I don't need kids thinking I was socializing with a low-life like your ugly ass!"

"I-I'm not gay!", I managed to spit out before he left. Jeez that was the most terrifying experience of my life!

I waited five minutes like Charlie instructed me to before I sneaked out of the closet and into the boys bathroom to asses the damage. I looked in the mirror, shocked to only find a bruise on my jaw.

Thank you lord above for letting me survive!

I'm not one to be overly religious but maybe there really is a god. I sure as hell don't think pure luck could've gotten me through a full conversation with a fuming Charlie Simmons. I decided to skip out on getting some ice for the throbbing in my head and run straight to the cafeteria to find Willow. Lunch was halfway over and she's probably even more pissed at me now for skipping out the first half.

I entered the room through the big double doors, scanning every inch to find my friends pink hair. Sure enough she was there, sitting at a small table situated in the back corner, alone. I felt an immense feeling of guilt creep back into my chest as I watched her face look up at me with disgust when I sat down.

"Get out of here, Ace! I need some ti-"

"Listen Willow," I cut her off before she could get any worse with her words, "I'm so sorry for what I did in the hall earlier. I've just been off ever since our spat on Saturday but i really don't want to start another one. As for being late for lunch... Well I'm sorry about that too, I-I had to stay late and talk to Mr. Keenan about the physics test.", god when are my lies going to stop!?

"It's okay, I guess. Just don't do it again... and remember you can always talk to me about anhthing.", Willow replied while nibbling on a carrot stick, pushing the container that held them my way. I cocked a brow at her, Willow never shared her food. "A sort of peace offering."

A smile crept onto my lips as I grabbed a carrot and scarfed it down. I was so nervous for today that I didn't even have breakfast! Thank god I can just move along and put the whole Charlie thing behind me. I can finally stop lying to Willow and worrying all the time! Relief flooded my body as I let myself relax and talk nonsense with Willow for the rest of lunch.

Fourth period went by in a flash, but of course biology had to come next. Ugh, I hope Charlie skipped school so I wouldn't have to see his face. I know we agreed to pretend it didn't happen but something was still tugging at my mind telling me I shouldn't forget. I ignored it.

Dread filled my body as I looked up into the door way and saw Charlie and his band of dickheads following closely behind him. I swear it's like they worship the ground he stands on! It's odd, I mean Charlie ranks #3 on the social latter but Luca and Bryce still obsess over him and he doesn't even care, he barely talks to them. Figures.

-

To my surprise biology actually went okay. There was so interaction between me and others besides a few traded glances from Charlie, but I didn't think too much of them. I headed to my locker as soon as I heard the first ring of the bell, clawing my way through the after school crowd of kids eager to get home. Usually on a Monday I would go to Willows and hang with her for a bit before work at the local grocery store, but her mom forced her to sign up for some sort of club that she wasn't allowed to miss or else she'd be grounded. Man I love Mrs. Dolton but sometimes she just doesn't make sense. She's got this carefree spirit until Willow comes along.

I sighed as I stepped onto the bus and took my usual seat, popping in my earbuds. There was no Dave on the afternoon bus, he only drove in the mornings. This made the bus rides home even more boring and painful than it was to begin with.

-

Before I knew it we stopped in front of my dingy apartment building. I muttered a quick thanks to the bus driver before exiting and making my way up the stairs into my humble abode. Sense the sarcasm?

I took a peek around the small living room and kitchen to make sure mom got off to work okay. When everything was clear I made a snack and settled into our couch, surfing channels on our ancient TV. I decided on a nature documentary, the lion racing after its prey caught my attention and brought me back to the janitors closet with Charlie. I still didn't know how he found out who I was! He didn't go to our middle school which meant he probably wasn't aware of the whole dead girls brother situation. I decided to brush off the confusing thought and take a quick nap before work.

-

I heard a timer go off as I reluctantly woke up from my slumber.

"Shit!", I muttered as I looked down on my phone and realized I slept too long. I ran down to my room and threw on my black jeans and white collared shirt before racing out the door and down the street. The walk to the grocery store was only 10 minutes and technically I was only 5 minutes behind schedule but I wanted extra time to meet this new employee my boss was raving about on my last shift. His first day was today and I wanted to make a good impression. Having shitty relationships with your co-workers sucked ass.

I entered our break room and tied on my blue apron, pinning my name tag to the center of my chest.

"Hey Ace, this is the new employee I was talking about!", I looked up to see Terry my boss, enter the room who gestured towards the large figure standing behind him.

You've got to be f*cking kidding me.

"Oh hi Ace.", Charlie said, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck. Ugh, I really thought I had some good luck for once. Why terry why! Why did the new guy just have to be a massive dickhead AND hate my guts?!

I sighed before muttering a hi and extending my hand forward to shake his.

"You too already know eachother?", Terry said with a delightful face.

"Yea we umm go to school together. He's in my biology class", I replied. Charlie smirked at me as if knowing what else was going through my brain.

We also made out... and almost f*cked.

"How perfect! Well then Ace, I was going to
let Maria train him but seeing as you too are already friends, I'll let you be the lucky fellow!", he slapped me on the back and left the room to return to his duties. I awkwardly looked up at Charlie who was giving me a death glare.

Thanks a lot Terry, you suck.
