It's a Wednesday evening. Just after dinner at UA. Unsurprisingly the students are by their desks doing homework or at least by their desks watching YouTube.
Uraraka was no different, slogging through her math homework. Chewing on her pencil, she scratched her way through some truly irritating equations.
Knock, Knock
When she opened the door, she was surprised to see her homeroom teacher Mr Aizawa with someone perched on his shoulders. He was wearing his usual black attire with someone nestled in his scarf. It was the adorable, silver haired six-year-old Eri. "Good evening Uraraka." He grumbled in his usual gravely tone,
Uraraka smiled as ever, warmly replying "Good evening Mr Aizawa."
Lifting Eri of his shoulders he said "I was wondering if you could help me. A mission has come up and I wanted you to look after Eri for the evening."
Uraraka wasn't expecting such a responsibility inquiring "Me sir?" Uraraka noticed how Eri hid behind Mr Aizawa and clutched to his trouser leg. She was wearing a white button up shirt with a red dress. She couldn't bear to be separated from her guardian and clung on like a hurricane was bearing down. Uraraka didn't have much experience with little kids. As an only sibling she had no-one to babysit. She felt a swell of doubt in the back of her mind, 'You will mess it up'. She hesitantly replied "Maybe Eri would feel comfortable with someone she is more familiar with. Like Midoriya."
Mr Aizawa's sleep deprived face didn't change. He flatly explained "Midoriya has a bad habit of attracting trouble. Its best he stays out of it. You are the most rational choice."
Uraraka would love to defend Deku but had to agree with her teacher. Deku did have an uncanny ability to attract dangerous situations to himself but he did always rise to the challenge. One of the reasons Uraraka admired Deku so much, she thought picturing his smiling face standing resiliently before adversity. She steeled herself, remembering the determination she brought to the sports festival. Deku wouldn't shrink from this or anything else.
"Thankyou sir, I would love to watch Eri." She beamed standing up from her desk.
She bent down to look at Eri who was still half burying her face in the black clad pro hero.
"This is going to be fun Eri."
Eri still cowered away from this stranger.
They were walking downstairs to the entrance to the 1-A dorm. Eri was still very timid and reserved, keeping her distance from Uraraka. "Now I left some dinner in my apartments which is just down the path. All of Eri's things should be there..."
Bzzzzz Bzzzzzzz
Mr Aizawa checked his phone hastening his exit. "I have to get going. I'll be back tonight." He said dropping his keys into his Uraraka's hands. He crouched down at rubbed Eri's head. "I'll see you tomorrow little one." She resolutely grabbed his hand, trying to anchor him in place. "Please don't go. I don't want you to go." She pouted. Unfazed by this childish act, he pulled off one of her tiny hands and gave it to Uraraka. "Good luck Mr Aizawa." Uraraka waved as he disappeared into the night. Eri followed after him trapped inside by the closing door.
Uraraka gave a warm smile to Eri trying to cheer her up. "C'mon this is going to be a great night. Let's go to your house and..."
"Can we see Deku?" Eri asked meekly looking up at Uraraka with her big doe eyes. Feeling her heart melt Uraraka struggled to resist.
