Once King Henry put his mind to something it was hard to change it. He sent guards to find the men that caused such a torturous act within his own palace that they would be tried and put to death. He looked up as one guard walked up and whispered in his ear.
"Bring them to me."
"Yes your majesty." Henry said, Charles stood off to one side of him. Four men were brought in front of Henry and shoved to their knees. Charles wanted to kill each of them in front of his king.
"So why did you attack the young woman?"
"We are ordered to do so your majesty."
"By whom?"
"We are unsure your majesty. It was done in secret. We would guess it was someone close to the queen."
"Are you certain?"
"We unsure but we believe so."
"But you still acted knowing if you were caught you would be put to death for such an act."
"Yes your majesty."
"Guards take them to the tower."
Charles was seething but never once moved from the place he stood. Henry looked toward Charles and motioned for him to follow as he walked off into an adjacent room.
"I believe these men were not working on orders of Anne but there might have been another hand involved."
"Who's? "
"I am wondering if her father has something to do with this."
"Are you sure?"
"Not entirely, but maybe we can find out."
"Then I can start looking if you wish your majesty."
"I do. Your grace."
"As you wish." Charles said bowing and starting for the door.
"Charles."
"Yes?"
"How is Lady Brice?"
"As well as can be. The physician saw her today. She has broken two ribs, he gave her something to help her rest. I have been staying in her chambers, sleeping in a chair but staying none the less."
"Very honorable of you Charles. When you get answers of who ordered this return to me."
"Right away." Charles said bowing and leaving.
Charles first went to check on Katherine, she had yet to leave her chambers since her attack. He knocked even though the guard had let him in.
"Lady Brice. How are you feeling?"
"Alright your grace." Katherine answered, he could see she wasnt sure.
"Katherine." He spoke, she looked up at him her eyes shining with unshed tears.
"Don't cry. We will get to the bottom of this and why it happened. The king has tasked me to find out who ordered this."
"Thank you. Your grace." Katherine said to him, Charles reached out and wiped the tears from her face. Katherine smiled up at him and walked closer, he leaned down and softly kissed her lips. Katherine reached up and touched his face and then kissed him this time deepening it. She moved her hands over his chest as she pulled away from his kiss, her hands pulling open his shirt. She slowly move her hands over his chest slowly removing his shirt.
"My lady?"
Katherine smiled and continued as she removed his shirt, she took his hand and led him into the bedroom, her porcelain skin seemed to shine in the dim light, he leaned down and kissed her once again his hands roaming her body as they unlaced her bodice and pulled the dress from her body and letting it fall to the floor. Katherine looked into his blue eyes as she kissed him again, she unbuttoned his pants and watched as they fell to the floor. He lifted her and placed her naked form on the bed, he lay down and kissed her neck as he moved down her body, he looked up into her emerald green eyes and moved back up, he slowly slid into her and she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him closer to her, he moved slowly as they kissed.
Katherine rolled onto her side and looked at him.
"You look tired."
"So do you." He answered her. Katherine nodded and lay against the pillows.
"Its hard though."
"I know. Are you going to be alright while I do as the king asked."
"I should be fine." She answered him. He leaned forward and kissed her before sliding from the bed, he began gathering his clothes and looked at her oddly.
"Your shirt is in the other room." She told him. He looked up to see Justina holding his shirt.
"Thank you." He told her. Katherine waited until he left before sitting up and Justina helped her get redressed and of course fix her hair.
"You seem happy with his grace."
"He is kind."
"My lady I see the look in your eyes, you barely know him and you care deeply for him."
"I admit I do. But he has taken his time and has not pushed anything with all that has been happening."
"I believe he will find it hard to find who ordered this but he will work hard."
"He will, I believe he will try. Especially if the king has requested it."
Katherine knew it would be hard especially if someone wanted to remain unnamed, and in some ways that scared her. But she did know the men that had caused her harm would be punished and she knew it would be harshly.
