"Goodbye, Lindsey!" The librarian called out, and I waved in return as I left the building.  I had been in our college library for hours tonight, and I could finally return to my room and get some sleep.

It was a cold night walking back from the library to my dorm.  I shoved my hands in my coat pockets and sped up my pace.  I had stayed in the library studying for way too long, and the college campus was empty.

There was less than a half moon tonight, so the grounds were dark, and all I could see was the lights on the buildings ahead.  I didn't know my way around too well yet, but I knew that I could find my way back to my dorm room.  I had made the trip between my room and the library many times in my two and a half months here.

I spent a lot of my time in the library seeing as how keeping a perfect GPA was my biggest goal at the moment.  I was a bit of a loner, and besides, I didn't have time for distractions.

I was getting closer to my dorm building when a large hand was placed firmly over my mouth. Another arm wrapped around my waist pulling me back into an alley between two of the buildings.

I struggled and tried to scream but it was useless as I was pulled into a strong body.  Before I could comprehend what's going on, I was pushed against the wall with a hand still firmly pressed to my mouth.

"Now, don't scream, or I'll just have to kill you," the man in front of me whispered.  I couldn't see his face, but I could tell he was dangerous just by his voice.  A single tear rolled down my face as I took in the situation.

I closed my eyes as I waited for what was next.  The man moved his hand from my mouth, but I was too scared to make a noise.  I wanted to run, but my body wouldn't let me.  The stranger moved his hand to my hair and grabbed a large chunk on the back of my head.

He pulled my head forcefully down to the side and grabbed my waist with his other hand.  I felt his lips on my neck, and I shuddered in disgust.

"You're a pretty little thing, aren't you?" The man laughed, and I felt his hand move to unzip my jeans.

"Please, don't hurt me.  Please. I'll forget this even happened. Please, just let me go." My voice shook as I spoke.  I never expected to be begging for my life, but at this point I didn't know what else I could do.

The man threw his head back and laughed.

"Just don't struggle, and this will be over before you know it," he said as he started to pull my jacket down off of my shoulders.  I squeeze my eyes shut, and just as I was expecting the worst, the weight of the stranger was lifted off of me.

My eyes shot open just in time to see the stranger slam into the wall opposite of me.  Now, there was another man standing in between us.  His back was to me, and he stood in a crouched position as if ready to attack.

The man that attacked me was laying unconscious in a heap on the ground, but I couldn't tell if he was breathing.  My knees were weak, and I slid down the side of the wall still pressed to my back.  The man who saved me turned around and stared at me for a moment before kneeling in front of me.

"Are you alright?" he asked as he looks over my face.  I was in shock, and I couldn't trust my voice, so I just nod.

"I'm James. And you?" he said but didn't make a move to touch me which I was grateful for.

"Lindsey," I managed to squeak out.

James smiled at me and then stands up.

"Would you like a hand?" he offered his hand to me, and I just stared up at him for a moment.  Although I just barely met him, I felt as though I could trust him.  I didn't know why, but I reached my hand up to him.

When his hand touched mine, I gasped.  Sparks seemed to fly through my entire body from the contact.  I felt warm, and I was drawn to him.  I had never felt this before.  He must not have felt it though because he pulled me to my feet without hesitation.

I couldn't make out the features of his face, but I could tell that he is about eight inches taller than me.  I could also see that he has a large, muscular build that I can't seem to take my eyes off of.

My knees buckled, and I fell into James's arms.

"Whoa, you alright there?" he asked while easily catching me.  I braced my hands on his arms and look up at him.  That was when I realized that he was only wearing a short sleeved t-shirt.

"Aren't you cold?" I ask still looking up to his face.

"Let's get you home, okay?" He said chuckling.

I nodded, but as I began to walk I was engulfed by darkness.
