You wonder what, the stars have seen,
Thousands of years they shine for,
Never dying out.
How many faces have stared up at them,
Making a wish,
All so different yet one thing in common,
They turn to the stars when nowhere else to go,
They make a connection,
But on closer inspection,
Do we see it that way?
Do we think we have something in common with,
The haggard faces of refugees, coming off the boat, with nothing but the clothes on their backs and the hope in their hearts.
But we do
These people could have been, doctors and Girl Guides, dancers or lawyers, the homeless man on the street a professor of science,
We connect with others through common interests,
But we forget that,
These people had lives like ours,
They never asked to flee,
It could have easily been me,
With no home to go to,
When you have nothing, your connections become so important to you,
These people trying to rebuild their lives,
Look for a connection, a familiarity, something to reconnect them to their past life,
They have lost so much, they shouldn't lose their hobbies and interests,
So why not try to talk to others,
No matter who they are,
Make a connection,
Be the person who makes someone smile today,
In a world full of hate, look for similarities,
Connections not differences,
Because we all have something in common,
Even on the most basic level we all share our planet and,
Each speck of light at night is a person, place or community,
All sheltered under one sky,
Wether we are separated by sea or land,
We are all connected.

PoetryThis is a short poem/essay/I don't know what I wrote. It's a bit rushed and I usually don't write poetry but its something I support so.... . I wish everyone did treat each other equally, no one should act like their better than someone just because...
