Whereto?

Chapter ONE

"Son, when will you be back home. I miss you!"

Gale sighs. Not this again. "Mom, I told you many times, I want nothing to do with the village. Plus I'm about to go on my biggest voyage this year!"

"I know sweetie but I just miss my baby. It's fine that you want nothing to do with this world, but it's been 7 years! I just want to see your face and so many people are asking for you" Mariam exasperated.

Why is she doing this now. I left for a reason plus I saw her a couple months ago.

"Okay fine. but can I call you later, my flight is being called." I lie easily, my flight isn't for another couple hours.

"Bu-"

I didn't even let her finish and hung up on her. I hate these conversations with her every month. It's always "when are you going to come back" and "have you found your mate" but nothing on any of my publishings and adventures. It just seems like being a wolf is more important than the fact that I have been trying to make a name for myself as an adventure.

I tried to get comfortable by laying on this hard plastic array of chairs. I hate public airports. There's always some type of commotion, and this time it someone arguing with security. I shut my eyes trying to ignore the noise but my heightened hearing lets me have no peace. After some time I get the peace and quiet I wanted but someone starts calling me.

"Gale"

Who the hell is this person

"GALE"

My eyes flutter open and saw no one other than my traveling companion Lina standing above me. Her bright blue piercing eyes looking at mine with her red hair enclosed around my head.

"What do you want, i was trying to nap." I was pouting at this point because no one seems to want me to sleep.

"Doc called, he said that the trip is cancelled"

What cancelled, this is supposed to be one of the biggest articles of the year to be written. My name is supposed to be plastered everywhere with my photos. Heck this was a chance to get into Time Magazine.

"What do you mean cancelled, I thought everything was already booked and busy. How is it now being cancelled" I sit up and squint at her. What in the world is going on.

"Apparently there was an outbreak of some virus and now there is a travel ban placed and ..." she begins to ramble on different diseases that we can contract but I'm no longer listening to her

I boasted about this trip for months and now its cancelled, what am I supposed to do for the next couple months.

"Gale are you listening to me?" Lina is standing in front of my with her arms crossed. When did she even move in front of me.

"Um, yea sure. Did doc say anything else about another trip? Are we supposed to write an empty article or a filler article? What about the picture we are supposed to be taking? How about - "

Lina cuts me off "If you were listening to me you would have already know the answers to those questions"

Fine she got me, I wasnt paying attention to her, "Okay then restart maybe I missed something. "

With her arms still crossed she rolled her eyes. "Basically he said this can be our break until he figures something out and then he will call us, also since the flight is cancelled we can essentially fly anywhere else. Maybe you should go back home?"

Home. That's the last place I wanted to go.

I sighed, "So what are you going to do? Are you going back home or another trip?"

Lina paused and cocked her head, "Thats a good question, I'm probably going to meet with my fiance or maybe visit my parents, it has been a while since I've visited that old farm"

Oh right she has a life outside these voyages. All I can think of at this point is that I don't have a special someone waiting for me to tell them all my voyages and I would never go back to the pack for recognition.

I sigh again while pinching my nose. This right here is stupid, but what am I supposed to do next. I guess I can go back to my place maybe get some sleep, or work on my book.

Lina pipes up again " Well I guess I'm going to go get a ticket for back home, Doc said he would email or call us so look out for that." and with that she walks away with her large bag and heads to a terminal opposite from where I was sitting.

Damn. I guess home is where I am going
