Eleanor's POV:
Cold breeze hits my face sending a shiver down my spine. Feeling something soft under my feet, I glance at my surroundings gasping at the view. Purple flowers spread across the clearing, the moonlight giving them a silvery glow. Another cold breeze hits making the flowers from the nearby trees fall on me. Giggling, I twirl reveling in the feel of the soft flowers brushing my cheeks. Curiosity takes over me as I spot a greener clearing ahead and head towards it.
However, the greener clearing seems to move farther away, the more I walk towards it. Frowning, I gather up my skirt and break into a sprint eager to reach it, but stop in my tracks hearing a bark and a growl. Turning around I notice two golden retrievers, one big and the other a puppy. Slowly and cautiously making my way to them, I sink before the growling elder one and reach out to pet it.
Before I could even touch the elder one, the puppy jumps on me, licking my cheek. I scrunch my nose at the wetness and pet it. I open my mouth to say something but only a beeping noise is heard. I try again only to hear the same annoying beeping noise.
Gasping, I shoot up to a sitting position and notice my sky blue colored walls taking over the purple flowered trees as reality slowly washes away the beautiful dream. Sighing, I slam a hand over the alarm clock probably breaking it.
Yep. Broken.
My sleepy eyes sweep the room registering it's contents. A couple of books lie on the night stand waiting for me to stuff them in a bag. Apart from that, the room looks bare. Void of it's belongings. My attention, then, snaps to the neatly packed and labeled cartons and duffle bags at the center of the room.
Staring outside the window, I struggle to make my peace with the fact that I am shifting today. A small weirdly named town called Forks is going to be my new home. A drastic change from Phoenix, Arizona. I will be leaving my job, my friends, this place, the little cafe down the lane where I always hung out and most importantly, the house I grew up in.
A lone tear escapes it confines as I remember how my mom used to waltz into the room threatening to throw my books and art supplies away if I don't wake up. I would gladly give them up if that means she'll be here with me.
It has been nearly six months since the dreadful accident that snatched my mom away from me. Six months since the cops gave me the news making that day the worst day of my life. While I am attempting to paint my pain away, I wish I could say Dad found an outlet too. Unable to cope up with it, he decided to have a change of scenery.
I couldn't bring myself to leave him alone or stay alone in this house filled with my mother's laughter and memories. So, I suggested moving in with him. I knew what people would think. Staying with parents even when I am 22. I did not care though. My father is the most important person in my life right now and I won't leave his side in testing times.
"Nora! Are you still sleeping?" my dad's voice seeps in through the floorboards.
"Nope! I'll be down in 10" I shout back.
Dragging myself to the shower, I finish packing my toiletries after the shower and get dressed in a white shirt and navy skirt. Pulling on some random yellow stockings with black stripes on it, I strap my shoes and check my room to see if there is anything left to pack.
The mouth watering aroma of pancakes has me down in a minute lingering around the table. I watch keenly as dad fixes up my plate with pancakes and raspberries. Slowly reaching out, I try to sneak a raspberry earning a slap on my hand.
As soon as the plate is set, I wolf down the contents. Food! My first love!
"The movers will be here in ten minutes. Are you all set?" asks Dad.
"Yep. All ready." I mumble helping myself with a second serving of raspberries.
"You know you do not have to give up everything for my sake right? I will be alright. I have Harry there to help me if needed." says Dad referring to his best friend Harry Clearwater.
"Are you trying to get rid of me, old man? I am coming and it is final.I have already applied for a job there." I reply
Rolling his eyes at me, dad says, "I do not want you to give up your chance at something big. Your recent exhibitions have been a hit. Maybe you will get better opportunities here."
Sighing, I reply, "Dad! I do not want to host any exhibitions for a while. Forks will be a good break for me too. Now, stop this. I am tired of having the same conversation for the entire week."
Frowning, he grumbles, "Well, sue me for trying."
The movers arrive luckily, stopping any further conversation and I wash the dishes packing them as well. Jogging up to my room, I see that most of the cartons are already moved out. Grabbing my sling bag, I take one last look at my, now empty, room and leave carrying all the happy memories with me.
I see dad waiting in his car for me and starts as soon as I reach. I follow him in mine watching as my house fades away.
