he smiled, looking at chaera. they had just hit their 1 year anniversary mark, and was super excited to bring her out on a date.

"chaera? would you.."

he rubbed the nape of his neck, shy.

"what is it, sannie?" she said, her eyes gentle, her voice smooth like silk.

sometimes, even san wonders what he did in his past life to deserve a soulmate like chaera. she was just so..

perfect.

his opposite. he was clumsy, he was shy. he didn't really talk to anyone. but chaera was outgoing, she was popular. so why "him"?, he'd wonder sometimes.

"chae, i booked a restaurant table, tonight, at your favourite pasta place for our 1 year anniversary. i hope you aren't too busy with work.."

looking down, he felt.. ashamed. chae had a good job, a surgeon at a hospital nearby, whereas he was a dancer. as much as he enjoyed it, the money wasn't enough. he had to work hard for months to be able to even barely afford the reservation.

"sannie.. you didn't have to, really. besides, i forgot to tell you there will be a doctors meeting at work till late, so i can't make it. i'm sorry sunshine, maybe tommorow?" she told him, eyes not meeting his.

his shoulders slumped. he had already planned things out. he already had the roses, the lights.

the ring.

he had wanted to propose tonight. but now, he wasn't so sure.

should he propose tommorow? it's been a year, with no sign of aging evident on his face.

yet,

chae started looking older. her face looked the same, but if you looked into her eyes, you could tell she was getting older, and wiser. she didn't look 18 anymore.

was she growing old without him?

san snapped himself out of it. it can't be, chaera wouldn't cheat on him..

would she?

"no. no, she wouldn't. what the hell, san?" he asked himself.

"i'm gonna get changed sannie, will you fetch me to the hospital?" chaera asked him.

san nodded, keeping his mouth shut. she knew today was their 1st anniversary. why couldn't she just cancel the meeting, or not go? they would understand, wouldn't they?

he walked to his room, feeling dejected. opening his drawer, he pulled out the ring box. he twirled the box in his fingers, fingertips firm on the velvet box.

was she worth the ring inside..?

he had customised it, engraving the word "forever" in the 1 carat wedding ring.
and he really wanted the person who owned it to be his forever, but now he just wasn't so sure.

maybe he should spy on her? that wouldn't be right, but he would get the answers he needed.

yes.
maybe he should spy on her later.

and he will find out the truth.

and he swore to himself to not get hurt by what he found.
