Harry ran away when he was younger and ran into a circus. They take him in. One of the members is a witch/wizard and tells him all about the wizarding world. He finds a talent in the circus (personally leaning towards acrobatics) and performs with the rest of the troupe. On his 11th birthday they are in Britain and he gets his letter, accepts and said witch/wizard takes him to diagon alley. He goes to Hogwarts and the rest of the circus sends letters and presents. He stays at school for the holidays and after the school year the witch/wizard apperates him to the current circus position.
The story would be how things would change with an energetic circus boy-who-lived running around the halls of Hogwarts and messing things up.
Maybe one classmate watches the circus and recognizes him.
Maybe he can sing and dance with the troupe like greatest showman
Maybe he won't be gryffindor
Maybe he won't be friends with Ron and Hermione
