It's a warm sunny day outside. The sunlight shines through the window and reflects onto the mirror, I'm sitting in front of. The sounds of birds chirping away and people chattering as they walk down the street fills through the silent room.
Putting the final pin into my hair to secure the braid crown. I begin wondering why I agreed to this as my anxiety begins to surface.
I've never taken photos before of someone that I have never met. The only time I have ever taken portrait photos of someone is for my best friend Kat. She says that my pictures of her look better than taking a selfie.
She says I get the best lighting and angle on her to make her look even better in photos; and how she gets more likes and compliments when I take the photo instead.
She says I need to get more of my work out into the real world and to stop hiding. It took her a lot of time of begging to get me to finally agree with her.
Two days after I agreed with her, she came in all excited telling me how she had done an interview for her work. Then she hit me with the major part of that news.
----Past----
"For the interview to be printed into papers, I must get someone to take some photos of him." She says looking at me nervously.
"It won't be hard to find someone to do it." She fiddles with her hands and looks at me.
"I already know someone who can do it and she's really talented and amazing best friend."
I stare at her for a few seconds in bewilderment before it hits me and my eyes widen.
"No, No, No. I can't do it. I don't even know the person.'
"It's Cole Jones from Jones Enterprise."
"Knowing his name doesn't mean jack sh*t. You know that Kat."
"Please, Alice. You promised me that you will get your work out there. This is the perfect chance to do that. If you don't do it I won't be allowed to post the article. You know this means a lot to me. Pleaseeee." Going onto her knees with a pleading look.
"Okay, fine. I'll do it. You owe me." She jumps up and hugs me tightly.
----Present----
Since that day, I began my research on the man I would be doing a photoshoot with. There weren't many photos of him. But there was a lot of articles about the company. When I ended up on the company site it was very modern with black writing and light grey boxes and arrows directing to different parts of the site. The header of the page had a man around his 50's with a bright comforting smile spread across his face. A younger version of him stood beside him with a sombre look spread across his face.
An article on the side of the page caught my attention. Clicking on it, a picture of the man appears again but the article shocks me.
The man had died but doesn't explain why. It goes on to mention how Cole Jones received the company in his dads will. Since that day the company has become more successful and he has become a multi-millionaire at the age of 19 making him the youngest ever multi-millionaire.
Closing my laptop with the article on, I take one last look in the mirror before leaving the room.
I'm wearing my ripped skinny jeans with my California t-shirt and my white Converse boots.
As I enter into the hallway Kat is standing by the front door. She is wearing a white crop top with blue jeans, which shows off her light skin and her pierced belly button. Her purple hair sits gently on her shoulders.
