It had been around 2 years since Pitch Black had been defeated but, not much had changed.

You would have expected that the guardians would at least make an effort to talk to Jack, but of course they hadn't. They all assumed that the young spirit would be ok.They also kept being rude to the poor child, making him upset, even if it was by accident. They constantly ridiculed him and made fun of how he was always do 'happy' . And, because of that, Jack grew distant. Though, the guardians had not noticed. They had not payed him any attention or even spoke to him kindly since... since Pitch had died.

Jack had been ignoring the Northern lights that constantly tried to call him back to the workshop. This was a terrible thing to do but, he didn't honestly care anymore. He didn't want to go back, he wanted to stay at his lake, his home.

When he had decided to return, he knew the others would be furious. And as expected, as he flew through the open window, he was greeted by four aggravated guardians.

He watched as who was supposed to be his new 'family' yelled at him and scolded him for doing his job. And surprisingly, Jack allowed them to yell at him.

He stared at the guardians with a blank expression, not bothered by them yelling at him. Then, North slapped him as hard as he could. Jack stared at him with a small smile on his face, remembering a song he once listened to. Jack wasn't phased by being hit. It was as if he was used to it, which he was. And then, the guardians decided to come to their senses.

"Sweetooth we are so sorry!" tooth said, her voice full of pain and regret. "It's alright tooth." Jack said. He then turned around quickly, beginning to walk away, and mumbled, "I'm used to the pain anyways..." No one heard what he said, and Jack was glad that they hadn't. He didn't need them to worry.

The next day

Jack was i his room at the pole, all alone. After what happened yesterday, none of the others could look him in the eye. They all steered clear of the boy. This was a big mistake. They had all been leaving Jack alone, and so the rift between them wouldn't close.

MIM noticed this and had had enough. For the past year, all of the guardians had grown distant to each other and barely ever spoke. This annoyed MIM because, Jack couldn't trust them anymore and, the guardians were still weary of Jack, not trusting him.

MIM needed them to trust each other. And the only way that could happen would be if they saw Jack's memories. But, he knew that if he did that, Jack would never trust him. He finally decided, after a lot of thinking, that he should do it. This was the best option that he could think of, and give the guardians a moment to be there for Jack. Just like they should've been.

As MIM called for all of the guardians, he noticed that Jack was standing further back. He needed to fix this as soon as he can. He didn't want for Jack to suffer and wanted everyone to hell him. "Vhat is it Moony?" North asked. "I realised that you all have drifted apart from Jack" MIM started, "So to heal this rift... You are going to see some of Jack's memories." Everyone just stood there in silence, until tooth said, "ok... Let's see them..." Then, a blinding white light consumed the five guardians and brought him to a what looked like a small, welcoming cottage.
