. . .
I walk down the hallway the next morning after my mom has dropped me off at school. I head towards the table we always sit at and Liz comes from behind. I wave and smile at her, but she ignores my wave and runs towards me in a hurry. I raise my arms in a shape of an "X" to protect myself from her.
"I can't believe it!" Liz screams in my ear.
I make a perplexed face and yell back, "What!?"
"Ouch! Anyways, I've got to tell you something!"
"What?" The bell rings and I jump as the loud ring seeps though my ears.
"I forgot, sorry," she frowned and left to class. Her weirdness scares me at times.
"Cora!" Jason yells, while he pinches the sides of my waist. It tickles and he knows that, so he does it to make me angry. I immediately fall backwards into his arms and he catches me. I give him a gentle smile and say sarcastically, "Thanks for the heart attack."
He laughs and says, "You're welcome." He smiles, "So, what's up?"
"Oh, nothing. I was walking to class peacefully until SOMEONE made a surprise attack towards me."
He laughs again and I see the charming sparkle in his eyes that remind me how we became inseparable...
. . .
. . . I walked into Mr. Bender's sixth grade class for the first time. I looked around for a place to sit and for someone to sit next to, but everyone had already gotten a partner, since the desks were arranged in pairs. I decided to take one of the two last empty seats in the back. I guess Jason had the exact same problem because when he came inside, he came towards we I was sitting with the intention of sitting next to me. I looked up and stared directly into his eyes. He stared into mine as well. I don't know what he saw in them, but it must've been something good because he gave such a delighted smile. I knew it, he was hooked. I saw that sparkle shimmer, pulling us toward each other, but I stop myself from doing so and smiled back. It was such a strong attraction that a superstitious person might even say it was love at first sight. I tried to keep myself from falling into that spell called love, but my efforts were useless because I was captivated by it and still am, I think.
From that second on, we knew we were meant to be. From that moment on, we didn't even need to talk to feel the sparks that flew when we were together. From that moment on, I loved him like no other person in the entire world. We hung out non-stop that people, of course, could not possibly find something better to do, so they started to ruin our innocent lives by creating rumors. That is when Aliah's super matchmaking powers come in.
She did not make the rumors, they were there way before she got in it, but she was the only one I trusted enough to tell her that I had a major crush on Jason. She was being a good friend by trying to make me happy going out with the guy I liked, but unfortunately her plan wasn't foolproof and the plan started to scare him away. He was all I ever thought of. He was all I looked forward to seeing every day. I didn't know if he ever thought of me, but I really didn't mind if he didn't. All I really wanted is to have him by my side, as a boyfriend or not, just as long as he was there. It's good that it did not scare him completely and he still hangs out with me. I don't know what I would ever do without him...
. . .
I walk into Algebra and take my seat, lifeless. I haven't eaten and lifeless is exactly how I feel. The teacher, Mr. Robles, starts talking, but the intercom abruptly interrupts him. I doze off again and disconnect myself from the real world. I am incredibly intelligent. I am one year ahead in math because I had good grades and got a perfect score in my California Standardized Test (CST) in sixth grade. I am not the only seventh grader in Algebra though, there is nine more. We are in a class with eighth graders and they are all, for the most part, pretty nice. I don't converse that much with any of them, I am a really shy person.
