Chapter 1-The Death Game
===========================================================
I was once an ordinary girl. I had a carefree life. A good student. But it all changed. It was like any other day. I wake up to my alarm going off. “I’m late!” I get up very fast, faster than usual. I get dressed and head downstairs to get some breakfast going. I put some bread in the toaster and realise I had homework to do. I rush to get it out of my bag and look for a pen to use. I try to get as much as I could but the bus was right by the driveway. I grab my toast and put it in my mouth. I stuff my homework into my bag and I was off.
I hurry onto the crowded bus. The walkway was crowded with carelessly left bags. I searched the bus for an open seat. I spotted a space next to a preppy looking girl. I approached her “Is it alright If I take this seat?” I slightly pointed to the open spot next to her. She looked up, scanning me for a moment before giving me a cold glare. She quickly put her legs up on the empty seat and crosses them. “No, why don’t you stand like the others.” She scoffed, as if this was a joke. As if she found happiness in other peoples pain. I sigh and look back around, standing in any clear area I can. Once in a while I glance back at the cold girl.
Inside my bag I feel a buzz. I reach inside and notice I received a text from someone I didn’t know. Should I reply? I text the words “Wrong number?” and open up my bag so I could put away my phone. All of a sudden the bus came to a complete stop and with much force I fell and landed on a grown man that fell when I hit him. Embarrassed I get up “I’m so sorry! I wasn’t holding on to the pole.” I apologize. I help him up and he says “Uhh, its okay. Stuff happens.” After he said that he avoided eye contact with me. I look out a window and notice we’re almost at school.
I rush off of the bus, as to not encounter that girl once more. “What was her problem?” I say under my breath. I rush through the gates, and walk to my class. Class was the same as always. Boring. The material covered, I already knew. I spent the time dazing off staring out the window. Suddenly, I see a white figure. I blink my eyes again. It was gone. “Huh…?” I blink my eyes, thinking I must have been dozing off and was seeing things. The teacher notices me, that I was “Goofing off” and yells my name. “Mei!” I draw my attention towards the front of the room. “Mei, It seems you cannot sit through my class properly. Excuse yourself to the office at once!” Nothing new. I casually get up as if I've repeated this over and over again, and head out of the class room with my things. I look down the open, empty hallway, and head for the exit.
As I’m making my way towards the nearest exit I see the same girl and her group of friends hanging out by the doorway. One of her friends looks at me and the others notice me standing there looking at them. The preppy girl manages to look at me and her face turns red with anger. “What are you doing? Going to skip class?” They start walking towards me “Mr.Walker wouldn’t like that would he?” They laugh and a short one started talking. “Why don’t I tell him. It’s not like you would care you bum!” She laughs. I had no choice but to go to the office. Maybe these girls won’t rat me out if I did. I ignore their words and head to the main office.
Once inside, I speak to the woman who had a bored expression on her face. “Um...Mr.Walker sent me.” She sighs loudly and looks up. “Reason, Miss?” Her gum cracks as she chews it. “I wasn’t paying attention In class, and he sent me out.” I look around the too familiar room. “Take a seat.” She says while typing on her computer, and I head to take a seat near a window. Crossing my legs I can still see the cold girl from earlier. I get a closer look at her “Huh…?” She’s looking around, and a black greyish figure is hiding behind her. I blink again, to get rid of my grogginess. Its still there. Shes speaking to someone, but no one is there. Overthinking everything, I look away and look around the room, knowing I’ll be stuck here for a while.
