Peter gave me a quick smile, and we turned on the tracking devices. The volume cranked up high we all leaned in close, so close that Bruce hit my head with his.

I was about to smack him when Percy started talking. "Leo. I thought you said these phones were safe! I've been tracked all the way here. Want to explain?"

We of course, couldn't hear the reply. But from the sound of Percy's frustrated tone, it hadn't been what he wanted.  "What do you mean a work in progress? You guarenteed that these were safe to use? High on jelly beans."

There was a dramtic pause, and we all held our breaths. He was still close to the door, if he hung up and ran out, we wouldn't have time to act natural. Crossing my fingers I prayed he'd keep talking.

"Yeah, okay, that I can believe."

He tried to lean on the wall, but his back slid across the whiteboard and he fell to the ground wiping out half my equations with a bang. For a second I forgot we were tryong to eavesdrop and moved to yell at him for wiping off my silent debate with Annabeth about the kind of pizza to order for lunch.

"Leo why'd you call, please. I need to go." He whined.

There was silence as he took in the statement that was voiced on the other end of the phone, he even slammed his phone on the table in frustration. Finally, his gaze landing on the clock he said, "so she still isn't talking to me?"

It was pretty obvious that the answer was along the lines of 'nope.'

"Fine. She can borrow them. Though I wish you'd tell me what for. Tell her it's 'Maia' and that the Stolls were messing with them so be careful." He shut off his phone and reached for the doorknob. We all scrambled to act natural.

"Just smile and wave boys, smile and wave." I gasped out, standing straight and shoving the microphone behind the couch.

Nat shot me a glare. Possibly because she hated Penguins of Madagascar, possibly because she hated me, possibly because, well, she was a girl.

"Can I have a moment?" He asked, heading toward the bathroom. Which, afterwards I found suspicious as no one had shown him where the toilets were. They were through the door to the lab and then in the lab bathrooms.

"Didn't he just have a moment?" Asked Peter, who had just re-entered the room, arms full of an assortment of food.
