PUBLIC HEALTH OF ELDERLY HOSPITAL, Reselda POV
"Temperature normal, heartbeat stable, oxygen level good, blood pressure stable, hmm...good job Paul, seems you have been following my advice thoroughly," I smiled at the paperwork feeling satisfied with the results.
"Anything for the lady," he replied with a wink. Paul is a 70-year-old man with the vigor of a 20-year-old teenager in heat. He is one among hundreds of patient here at Java public health of elderly hospital; he visits the hospital every week for his weekly check-up routine due to his poor eye-sight and a weak heart. I could say I'm used to his coquettish character; honestly, I enjoyed it, he keeps the tired and grey hospital alive and vibrant with his sweet serenades. Armed with his perfect caramel suit, chocolate bow tie and a huge dose of gentlemen like qualities, off he goes to stroll around the hospital back garden with his stylish mahogany cane plated with golden grip handle, checking out every other elderly woman on-site with his captivating poetry and signature dance moves. Yes he creates poetry to every single eve descendants there is here in this hospital, Shakespeare has nothing on him. I have to admit, though I'm not a fan of Shakespeare, he sure lift up my standard in a man.
"Glad to see you're healthy Paul," I chuckled. "Remember to always stay active and take your medications on time kay, nurse Abby will be here soon, is there anything you want to inform me before I go?" Paul smiled showing his bare teeth while gazing at me with a meaningful eye that I can't decipher. Hmm? That's odd I thought
"Off she goes to the unknown, of blood-thirst werewolves and black wings galore, armed with courage steel and knowledge ago, off she goes to unite the heroes." My eyes widened in surprise, I thought he would start oozing the sweet nothings that he practiced during his college days to attract female freshmen again. In that spur of a moment, his words hit me and made my heart disturbed for a moment, but I immediately eliminate it as fast as it appears. I wonder why i thought.
"Th-..that was impressive Paul, different from your area of expertise but I'll take that," I replied beaming, making sure not to confuse him with my sudden change of focus which i don't even know why. As a nurse, I have to always stay calm in all kinds of the situation; this is my golden rule, regardless of my passive and easily-worried nature when I'm not in uniform.
Knock knock!
The door opened and nurse Abby walked in hurriedly with beads of sweat forming in her forehead. She has arrived to change shift with me, I gave Paul's reports immediately to her and explained Paul latest medical update.
"Sorry for my lateness nurse Reselda, Amy is feeling ill this afternoon so I need to tend her care first before leaving, off you go to the train station El, I will take charge from here," she explained with heavy breath and a worried look carved on her face fearing I may miss my train because of her. Abby is a single mother who works 6 days a week full-time and Amy is hee third child. I have no heart to neither be mad nor feel the right to complain, if anything, I want to help her as much as I can.
I gave nurse Abby a warm reassuring pat on her shoulder, "No worries nurse Abby, I still have some time to catch up with my train. I hope Amy will get well soon, tell me if there is anything I could do to help kay." Relived, nurse Abby brightens. I checked my watch, only an hour left before departure, Time to sprint. Before I pass the exit door, I turned and peeked back inside the room one last time.
"See you next time Paul, I'll be waiting for your next masterpiece!" I called out with a warm smile and left Paul's room without hearing his reply.
Paul whispered with a tint of sadness hidden perfectly within his meaningful closed-lip smile, "See you next time El, see you next time....."
