Walking in the middle of night in a city usually isn't the best idea. There's tons of weirdos out around this time. I've somehow managed to avoid the dangerous weirdos every night when I walk home from work.
I love how quiet it is when I walk home at night. It feels peaceful. Until I see the bridge I have to cross to get home, and am reminded about the most recent disappearances that happened there the other night.
I stopped walking and stared at the bridge trying to spot anyone near or on the bridge. I squinted trying to figure out is what around the bridge was a human or a tree.
I slowly walk to the bridge ready for the worst to happen. All of the people that had vanished from existence trapped in my mind as I get closer to the bridge where 3 people were last seen. A witness had actually seen it happen. They had said that the 3 people on the bridge just disappeared... Well he actually claimed that they had been kidnapped by massive winged humanoid beings. He saw the 3 clearly in the light of the waxing gibbous moon when the winged beings showed up and took off with them. They ended up blaming him for the massive disappearances, searching his house and everything they could search for proof that he was the one responsible. They found nothing and sent him to a crazy house.
I'm hiding behind a bush beside my bridge that will take me home now.
It was only a crazy man's words. But they were enough to scare me.
"I wish there were another way home." I whispered to myself. "Why can't there be some other bridge that takes me home?"
I sit there staring at the smooth paved road on the bridge. The full moon was illuminating the whole area around the bridge. I couldn't see anyone no matter where I looked.
"I'm being paranoid. That's all it is. I'll never get home if I stay hidden in this bush." I sigh and get up, starting to cross the bridge now.
I stopped in the middle of the bridge to look up and admire the massive full moon.
It was almost looked like I could touch it. The river below me sparling and rippling the refection of the silver moon. I relaxed and smiled at the sky lost in the beauty of the night.
That's when I was suddenly lifted off the ground. Something has grabbed me and is now flying away with me up the river to an unknown destination.
