The purple head walked into the unfamiliar building, looking around his surroundings. He couldn't help but be slightly shaken up, it'd been a while since he had a physical examination.
Stephen never shared this information with anyone, but he always held an irrational fear of doctors.
It was a childish fear, something he should've gotten rid of by his teen years. But something about them always irked him, the way a complete stranger touched you for a few minutes. The way you knew absolutely nothing about them, yet they knew so much about your body and health. He wasn't against doctors, and he has matured from his childhood years, were he screamed and yelled to not go anywhere near a doctor's office. Now, it was just something he had to mentally prepare himself for and take a few breaths before entering the building.
As he sat down in the waiting room, he tapped the floor with his foot rhythmically. He wasn't too keen on the idea of being there, but it was something his new job required.
"Stephen Ng?"
"Yes?" Stephen stood up, staring at the nurse who called him.
"You're here for a physical, right?" He nodded, the young nurse looked down at the papers held in her clipboard. The nurse seemed to be more nervous than Stephen, he wondered if she was an intern, which calmed down his stress slightly, realizing these were real people with their own lives as well. After a few seconds the young lady looked up from her clipboard and pointed to a room down the hallway, "please go to room 218, Dr.Lee should be there shortly."
Stephen did as she said, entering the small office and closing the door behind him, he sat in one of the chairs near the corner of the room, as he wasn't sure if he should sit in the exam table just yet.
Stephen looked around the room, getting more irritated about how long the doctor was taking by the second."-No! Don't force the child to vomit by punching them in the stomach!"
Stephen flinched from the yelling outside the door, proceeded by more inaudible yelling which seemed to come from farther away.
Suddenly, the door swung open, "-I swear they're going to be the death of me..."
The doctor walked in, his silver hair falling neatly in a low ponytail. He tried to move his bangs behind his ear, but the hair fell right back near his face. His features seemed to compliment each other beautifully, and the man carried himself gracefully, passion in every touch.
Stephen felt his heart race, and he wasn't sure if it was because he was a doctor, because of his beauty, or because he seemed so...familiar.
He tried his hardest to remember, knowing that he wouldn't forget such a face, then it hit him.
They were classmates in high school! They shared a few classes together and the silver haired and him would play video games in class. Who would've thought he'd become a doctor.
He was also Stephen's former crush. All the anxiety he felt coming to the office was rushing back to him in panic. Before, the nervousness came from not knowing the person who examines him, now it came from knowing the person. Especially if that person was someone he fantasized about for years, if that person used to send chills down his spine with every touch, if that person made him blush at the mention of their name.
What was he meant to do?
Was he supposed to pretend he didn't know the guy?"Sorry for being late," the doctor swiftly closed the door behind him, Stephen nodded understandingly. "Please take off your shoes to start checking your height and weight."
Stephen did as asked, shakily standing on the scale, letting the other write down his weight. Soon he moved on to standing on the stadiometer, as the other was about to write down his height, Stephen looked down, starting conversation, "so...Hosuh, how's life been treating you?"
