While Michael contemplated about the meanings of the note, he didn't notice when someone came up behind him. "You know my brother would not appreciate the fact that you're standing this close to our house," cooed a sweet vice that made Michael jump from a sudden fright, dropping the page to the ground.

As he tried to calm his racing heart, stepping away he turned to see Cathy binding over giggling at his reaction. Perplexed as to why she came out here to talk to him, he didn't notice that he dropped the note in his fright. "Cathy, hi. I'm not doing anything illegal walking around a public place." he stated while looking around nervously seeing the small park devoid of other people.

"Yeah, like that would stop my brother. Hasn't he picked on you worse for fewer reasons while at school?" She asked as she looked up at him. "Besides you looked pretty interested in this piece of paper, which would give him plenty to work with." She quipped as she stood back up, examining the note.

Taking a quick look around, Michael was relieved to see the area void of others. A check of the houses, and his attention went back to Cathy. Just being close to her, a strange feeling washed through him. When he looked back at her, he realized she was reading the page.

Hastily, he grabs for the page in a sudden lunge as he blurs out, "Hay, that's mine."

Cathy looked up from the page, questions apparent on her face. "Where did you.." was all she could say, as her gaze shifted to his face.

As his fingers curled around it, their eyes locked together. Then strangest feeling pulsed through him in that moment, like a forgotten connection had completed itself. His Heart raced as his vision tunneled to include only Cathy, her light blue eyes seemed to sparkle with unknown lights from within. Sudden knowledge swam into his mind that wasn't his own, he knew that she had questions for him and knew how she had spent countless sleepless nights wrought with fear and worry. She knew of how he longed to talk with her, be with her. All things were forgotten as their eyes stayed together, until a resounding crack echoed through his head. The faint sounds of a gasp and tearing paper is all Michael heard as the world twirled around.

"Gavin! What are you doing? We were just talking!" Cathy exclaimed.

Gavin stood as tall as his below average height would allow, puffing out his chess. "What is a piece of trash like you doing with my sister?" Spitting venom in his tone.

"I told you! We were just talking." Cathy tried to get his attention away from Michael, who looked rather dazed sprawled on the ground.

"If the two of you were just talking, what were you talking about? Huh trash?" Gavin demanded as he kicked at Michael on the ground. "What were the two of you talking about?" Galvin leered at Michael, who was just turning tp plop on the ground as he shook his head.

Michael was still trying to understand what happened. He knew something strange happened when his eyes were locked with Cathy. Just by Gavin's presence, he knew why the side of his head was throbbing. Even though he was sitting on the ground, it was an effort to be lower than Gavin. Looking at the ground, he could easily see both of their faces.

Before their eyes had locked, he was doing something, reaching for something. His hand held something, the feeling of thick parchment crumpled in his hand. Looking to his hand, there was half the page clearly torn apart.

"We were talking about the fair" Michael muttered, loud enough to be heard.

"Like he said Gavin" Cathy chimed in. "I managed to win a pair of tickets." Hoping to sound convincing.

"Oh?" Gavin asked. "When did you win them? Why this the first time I'm hearing about it?"

"I..." Cathy flustered. She quickly recalled what she had read. "When I went out the other day, I won a street raffle. I didn't know who to take; it would probably be a lame kiddy show." She tried to sound convincing as she stepped slowly around her brother.
