It was fun. I really enjoyed Lydia's company even though she was my mom's age, she was pretty cool to hang out with, she connected with me in a way I didn't think was possible.
Ester stayed at a Lydia's house a lot and it proved that my decision was pretty good. But even when me and Ester talked there was something wrong. Ester was very diplomatic and soft. Almost as if she was a noble or from a royal family and many times she spoke like she was a robot, the answers were kind of robotic and she was always calm and smiling.
Anyways all the schools were closed because of some political disturbances, most of my classmates were happy when they found this out but Ester has a troubled worried look on her face. I knew she was very good at academics and very popular but I didn't think schools closing down for a few weeks would make her this sad, it was like there was something going on which she knew and didn't want for it to be public. It was very suspicious but I decided to give her the benefit of doubt.(She was my only friend so not much I could do)
The schools closing made my world take a huge turn in the right direction, I got a break from the school and I got to spend more time with Lydia and Ester.
The first day after the schools were closed, the morning was the brightest and sweet chirping of the birds loudest, the pleasant smell of rain filled me with happiness and the peaceful atmosphere of the street brought peace to my mind. But Lydia and Ester look worried. They glanced out of the window from time to time. A few hours after dawn Ester invited me to a walk, and we strolled down a few streets and spotted a few kids playing soccer in a field and enjoyed a good game, before a huge truck came down the lane and this was bad news because it was definitely out of control and it came right in my direction and I didn't enough time to react and this was my end or so I thought, but in less than a millisecond Ester moved with outstanding speed and pulled me to safety, the truck didn't wait and sped away.
Ester was perfectly normal and acted like nothing actually happened and looked at me for a few seconds before tugging me back home.
I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that I had witnessed my death by not more than a few millimetres and the fact that Ester exhibited incredible speed which was not compatible for a human being.
As soon we entered Lydia's house, she rushed forwards and pulled me into the hall, she knew about the accident which was supposed to happen but I don't remember Ester calling and telling her.
All this was very weird and I was sure something was off, something was happening but I stayed quiet. I told her that I would need some time to process what had happened and I would be in my room and that I wanted to be alone. She told me that it was quite natural for me to feel that way because not many people can say they survived through that.
I quickly sneaked my phone near the couch while enabling the voice recorder and went to my room and closed the door to make it seem like I was pretty distraught. I stayed put for an hour until I heard Ester walking into her room. (I could say it was Ester because of the slow and steady steps befitting royalty).
I went down and retrieved my phone, got into my room, made sure I locked the door and listen to the recording.
Lydia: I didn't know it would happen so soon, he isn't ready.
Ester: We should have been more careful, it was really careless of me to ask him to accompany me for a walk, I just wanted to clear my head with all of the problems in our world. I apologise for my carelessness.
Lydia: It's okay Ester, don't be hard on yourself, you couldn't have known that they realised so soon. It wasn't your fault.
Ester: Maybe so but we should have gotten more security because we can't fight Derek, not without "The Shadow Swordsman".
Lydia: We will have to evacuate this place as soon as possible. But what will we tell the boy?
Ester: He deserves to know the truth, and I think we should tell him.
Lydia: No, it's too soon, it can break him if he isn't ready.
Ester: But we don't have time and his parents.....
Before I could hear the complete recording Ester knocked at the door and called me for lunch and I panicked and deleted the recording (Ughhhhhhhhhh).
I opened the door and saw Ester looking at me and she was not smiling.
I went downstairs and I didn't find food, I saw Lydia panic packing some stuff in a huge bag and Ester looked worried, I decided I would give them some time to come clean, I asked them if we going on a trip to the beach and talked about how I liked the sun and how it would help divert my mind, I would say I was pretty impressed by my acting.
Lydia gave me a quick smile and promised that she would explain everything later, she emphasised that we needed to go at that very instant, and Ester gave me an assuring nod. Even though they were not completely honest with me, I trusted them so I agreed, I allowed Lydia to drag me out side and I was quite astonished to see a yellow Ferrari, Lydia pushed me into the car and Ester sat beside me as Lydia took the wheel. Before I knew it we sped off towards New York from Boston, we had to cover about 200 miles and Lydia was sure that she could take us to New York in an hours. The first 50 minutes, there was little talking but after that things took a huge turn towards BAD. I didn't know if I was dreaming or not but I was pretty sure there was a huge man running behind our Ferrari and he was catching up on us, he was running faster than a 200 miles per hour Ferrari and his body was huge covered in shining black armour with only a small gap near the eyes, he had a huge sword strapped onto his back and the Ferrari shook from the vibrations of his feet. I was afraid and it amplified when I saw Ester look terrified as well, she didn't panic but it was evident that she was frightened, Lydia sped up and the speed rose up to 218 miles per hour and that was the best this car could go at. This was barely enough, even though we seemed to gain some distance between us, the huge armour guy jumped and he went high in the sky and almost landed on top of us but Lydia took a sharp turn and barely escaped his swords swing. Ester seemed to ignore the fact that the armour guy had jumped over 900 metres, even with all this going on no one spoke anything, it was like the silence before a storm. I was confused and hoped this was all a bad dream, the armour guy caught up with us again and was 20 metres behind us. I started panicking but Ester broke the door open and threw some round green coloured thing at the place where his feet would be the next instant and it was quite impressive for her to predict where his feet would be the next instant given the speed of both him and us. It slowed him down and Lydia cried out that we had reached and asked Ester to be ready and that 'they' could open the portal at any time. (I don't know who they was).
We were in an open field and there was a canal nearby, it would be the most magnificent place if not for the scary armour guy.
And what happened next was really not normal, the armour guy was here, he stopped running, we stopped running Ester and Lydia were cutting off his view, he could not see me. And Lydia looked at me, and she started losing age. (Yeah she did). She became a young girl a few years older than me about 21, she was covered in a long white robe/cloak and she kissed my cheek and apologised to me and then she shouted at me and Ester to run. She shouted NOW and the air behind me began to get blurry, a red door appeared out of no where and Ester pulled me towards the door, before I got into the "door-y thing" I turned back when there was a loud and deep shout and the armour guy charged at me and his big blade was intercepted by a magnificent glowing blue katana held firmly by Lydia about 2 centimetres from my face. Before i knew it, I could hear a series of fierce metal clashing and Ester yelling and tugging me with incredible strength, she pretty much bulldozed me into going through the red mystery door i and I could hear gasps of pain from behind me, the gasp was too feminine to be of the armour guy's and to my horror, it wasn't. Lydia was a few feet off her feet with a huge sword through her stomach and blood all over, the glowing katana faded away into the ground filled with her blood. I couldn't shout, I couldn't scream, I just wished this nightmare would end, but as the red door started closing all I could hear was the armour guy's cry of victory or shriek of anger for letting me and Ester escape and all I could SEE was Lydia.
I saw life fading away from her pretty eyes and blood draining from her young face, but this did not put her smile off, she smiled at me and closed her eyes.
I knew she was dead, I was devastated, I could not hear anything, all my senses were blinded and when the door shut in my face (literally) I fainted from recoil and all I could think was Lydia gave up her life to save me. I don't think I will ever forget the vision of light fading from her lively pretty eyes, and thinking thus I dozed into a state of unconsciousness.
