Chapter Two
Meeting Miles
The whole night, I tossed and turned, maybe catching a few minutes of sleep here and there, but it was useless. By the time I had given up, it was close to making breakfast. I groaned loudly before making my way to the kitchen, taking my phone with me and putting music on low. The song 'Under Pressure' by Queen came on and it automatically lifted my spirits. I started dancing around the kitchen as I scrambled the eggs and put the bacon on the searing hot pan. I probably looked like a mad man with my frizzed curly hair and pajama shorts and crumpled shirt, but I could care less. This, this was my happy place. Music and food, getting lost in the beat. I sang along, giggling to myself when I messed up on a word or two, but still carrying on proudly. I however hadn't notice someone in the room with me until I heard someone clear their throat. I gasped and turned around, feeling my face growing hotter by the second. Its the strange boy from last night, I thought, before gulping. "Good morning, sorry if I woke you up, " I mumbled, ducking my head a bit in embarrassment. He looked at me with a blank stare, and I felt more and more awkward by the minute. "So, anyways, I'm making breakfast if you'd like some, does Flora prefer biscuits or toast? " I asked, turning my attention back to the pan to make sure nothing was burning.
"... Biscuits… "he said absentmindedly, still staring at me with dull eyes. I just noded my head, turning back to the burning pan.Damn, this is gonna be a fun morning.
I felt his cold stare on me, and for some reason, it didn't bother me, it felt….. familiar. The floar boards groaned under pressure as I felt Miles come closer. The hairs on the back of my neck stand up, and my breath quickened, almost leaving my lungs completely. A hand with long, meticulous fingers enclosed my wrist, stopping my movements. Cranning my neck, I looked up to see Miles inches away from my face. His breath fanning against me, with hints of peppermint glidding through. "You shouldn't be here, in this house" he said, giving me a hard stare. I shook my head before turning the stove off with my other hand, turning to fully face him, " And why shouldn't I be here", I whispered, scared of what was happening. He looked down at me for a few moments before dropping my hand, and taking a few steps back. The boy infront of me looked conflicted as to how he should answer.
" You'll get hurt", is all he said.
With that, the boy with curly raven hair and hypnotic eyes walked away.
