7:32 AM: Sam adjusted her glasses to sit higher on the bridge of her nose. She interpreted the instructors words and swiftly jotted them down into her notebook.
Her ears perked as she heard the sound of a pencil hit the floor. She reached down to grab it as a hand met with hers. She awkwardly pulled her hand back and her eyes met with Brennen's. "I'm sorry" Sam apologized. Brennen didn't say anything, he just looked into her eyes. Sam felt like it was one second too long. He then looked away and shifted his attention back to the instructor.
Sam sighed quietly and set her pencil down on her desk embarrassed. Feelings of nervousness overcame her mind. A crippling anxiousness prickled down her spine. She gazed at the world spinning around her. Shades of faded blacks and greys stained the colors of the room. Sam shook with fear as agonizing whispers flooded her thoughts. Sam trembled as she let out a weak moan, "Get out of my head." In the corner of her eye she saw a silhouette surrounded by a dim lights. It was almost as if it was calling out to her. Inviting her. Sam lost control of her body as her mind slipped into an unconscious state.
12:56 PM
"Sam"
"Sam"
"Wake up"
Sam woke up to lights shinning into her eyes. She could barely make out the voices she heard calling her name. She felt woozy as her consciousness returned back to her. Her head hit the pillow once again as a sharp pain instilled in her head.
"Hey, hey, sweetie take this." A nurse encouraged as she handed Sam two purple pills and a glass of water.
"It will help ease any pain you might feel. You hit your head pretty hard"
Sam reached for the pills. "What happened?" Sam questioned confused.
" You blacked out in class. We aren't sure the cause of it." The nurse replied as her eyes met with a woman standing to the side of the door.
" I brought someone who is going to help you remember what happened" the nurse ensured.
Sam sat up, still in pain. She rubbed her eyes and squinted at the blurry figures around the room.
" I need my glasses" Sam informed.
The nurse walked to the pile of Sam's belongings and pulled out a pair of black frames. She handed them to her.
Sam placed the glasses on her face and waited to be introduced to the woman. The woman was tall and her skin was a beautiful dark shade of brown. Her hair was shaved but her eyebrows were laid thickly above her eyes. Her round face was accompanied by a sharp jawline. Her eyes were large and round. The color was a deep shade of brown almost..black. Some thing felt off about her eyes. Sam couldn't place the feeling of what if was.
" This is Mrs.Fares. She is here to help. I will give you two some time alone" The nurse said as she left the room.
"Hello Samantha. My name is Eliza Fares. I'm a psychologist for medical affairs. Do you mind telling me what happened to you this morning?"
Sam looked around the room still confused as to how she got there. " To be perfectly honest, I don't remember much.
" Are there any dim memories you might have if the event?" Eliza asked.
" I guess I remember just writing in class and then all of the sudden everything went dark." Sam replied. Figments of the event slipped back into her mind. She replayed the vision of the silhouette in the corner of the room but couldn't remember if it was just her imagination.
Eliza clicked her pen and wrote down notes. "Anything else?" Eliza encouraged, "Do you remember what happened right before you started to see the room started to spin?"
Sam looked at her shocked. Sam never mentioned the room spinning. Her face returned to her normal confused look. Sam began to distrust Eliza and worry filled her.
"No, I'm sorry" She answered.
Eliza sat back frustrated. She then got up and slammed her fist next to Sams leg. " Anything else" Eliza demanded sharp and cold.
"No no I don't remember!" Sam cried. More flashbacks of the event played in her head. " There's one more thing I remember. Before it happened my hands met with the person sitting next to me when I was getting my pencil. Something just felt off about it." Sam trembled terrified.
Eliza furiously wrote down more notes. She removed her hand and stepped back from the bed. The anger in her face eased and she carried herself in her normal state. "What was their name?" She questioned.
Sam hesitated. She was still confused about the whole situation.
"What was his name Samantha" Eliza questioned as the anger diffused back within her.
"Brennen!" Sam forced out.
Eliza's eyes widened as she heard the same. Almost as if she had made a realization. She quickly grabbed her things and fled out of the room.
Sam jumped as she heard the sound of the door locking. Sam was confused and alone. What had she done? What was going to happen to her? What was going to happen to Brennen? She was left to sink in a river of her thoughts.3:24 PM
Sam had been alone for hours now. She analyzed ways to get out of the room. She looked at the door and realized the knob was shaking as it was being unlocked. The door partially opened and then stopped. The nurse was approached by somebody. They were exchanging words rapidly but all Sam could make out was "Keep her under survailence".
The nurse nodded and finished opening the door.
"All right. You are all good to go." The nurse ensured. She handed Sam a bottle of pills.
"Take these to help the pain and call the number on the bottle if you remember anything else from the event"
"So that's it? You are going to lock me in a room for hours and then all of the sudden just let me go?
" We were just monitoring you to see if you had a concussion. You are all good. No signs of anything wrong. DON'T forget to take those pills day and night." The nurse responded.
" Really, because it sounds to me like something IS wrong" Sam pressed.
" Listen Sam. As far as your dorm mates know, you just passed out because you forgot to eat. You are not to tell ANYBODY about what happened. Nobody knows and we plan on keeping it that way. Do not test the consequences of telling somebody." The nurse answered.
Sam nodded and tightened her grasp around the pills. She got up shakily and left the room in search of her dorm administrator.
