Golden Medals: A Phoenix Drop Days story

Chapter 4

"Please! C'mon dude it's not that hard, it's just... checking out that club" Calisay insists.

"You said it yourself, it's not that hard" the brown-haired meif'wa with calico pattern ears and tail.

"I just... don't wanna go alone. Peter! Please, please, please!"

"Alright... I guess I'll follow you then"

"Oh, thank Irene!" Calisay hugs Peter and hurries him to the club room.

As they get closer, they hear a loud girl's voice, like she was giving indications. They opened the door and before they can say anything, they see a flash and hear a 'bang', the look and sound of fireworks. Unsurprisingly, some of the desks catch on fire. The girl that was giving the instructions screams.

"I told you it wasn't gonna work..." says another girl with fuchsia hair and what seems to be pigtails, but it's hard to tell because of the smoke.

"Ah! Fire! Again... everywhere!" exclaims the guy that was with them.

The other girl starts to panic but tries to contain it "Uhh... guys this- I... I have everything under control!" she laughs anxiously and tries to find a way to put the fire out.

"Uhm... I'm pretty sure you don't "Calisay states.

"Who even are you!" she responds. It's hard to took at her through the flames and smoke.

"I don't think that's important right now!"

Pete looks for a fire extinguisher around the room but isn't able to find any, his uniform almost catches on fire from a piece of rubber that flew from above. He's finally able to tell Calisay "Do you see any fire extinguishers around?"

"No..." he thinks for a few seconds" maybe there's one outside!" he sprints out the room going around the back, and luckily finds one, damaged and probably used, but it was their best bet. He rushes into the room and thank Irene there's still some extinguisher left. The rest of the fire is put out by everyone stomping on the burnt wood. After a few moments the smoke is finally cleared out, Calisay and Peter are able to look at the one who caused all of this.

Her hair is black, and her tips are red, like her eyes. It's tied in a messy ponytail, and a little dirty from the ashes of the fire. She did look a little... crazy... but something about her just seems so... pretty to Calisay and Peter.

"See? That was just a little inny minie mishap, you see, it still proves my theory!" she continues saying.

"The room... caught on fire..." says the other girl.

"Doesn't matter!" she responded with a crazy expression "all that matters is that you guys are fine". She then turns to the two boys standing near the door, giving them an unamused look "who are you"

The two just keep staring at her astonished.

"Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure those are the new members" indicates the guy standing behind her.

"The new... what?!"

"Please, some more help wouldn't be that bad" the other girl tells her while going back to texting on the phone.

The one who seemed to be the leader sighed and rolled her eyes "Alright, fine! I guess we could make them clean or something"

Calisay follows her with his eyes.

"The name's Ruby! What about you?"

He snaps out of his trance "Ah! Uh... my name's Calisay"

"And you?" she turns to the meif'wa beside him.

"I'm Pedro, but everyone calls me Peter"

"Pedro then" she states, making him tilt his head to the side in confusion. Then she says under her breath "It's been a while since we'd had a meif'wa in the club...". She stands on top of a chair and tells them "Anyway! This is Soona and this is Kurt" pointing at them, and they greeted the new members. "Ok, so you're gonna help clean this up, and we'll talk later".

They all clean up before the student council that was checking the clubs could arrive, they acknowledged the club and finally sit and talk. Turns out Ruby was trying to see if a basketball could bounce better if attached to fireworks, but the realized she shouldn't have done it inside. Soona explained what the club was about, if there was anything it was about at all, but at least Calisay and Peter weren't just left with the question. However, they were fixated on something else... someone else: Ruby. It seems weird, she isn't the typical standard of "pretty", not to mention she seems crazy, but something about her just happened to be so... charming about her to them, they didn't even know what it was, but it was there.

Calisay's phone rings, it was the track team group chat asking where he was because practice would start soon. He gets up and excuses himself "Sorry I gotta go to Track practice, I'll see you guys- "

Soona, Kurt, and specially Ruby look at him in shock, Ruby then proceeds to say "Track... that means you train with-" she pauses for a brief moment "Hunter... he sent you here, didn't he" she looked a little disappointed, one could say it was from her thinking they had come here on their own, or the mention of Hunter just made her miss him.

Ruby's expression tells Calisay that's something she shouldn't learn about "Um... no not at all! I just happened to train with him and Keori"

"Uh... alright, say hi to them for me! And don't forget it! She orders him.

"Alright" then he leaves.

Today's club activity gave the Infinity club two new members, and it gave Calisay and Peter a new person to think about.
