Dave sighed heavily. Karkat had stolen his cape last night yet again. Every night without fail karkat would take Daves cape and sleep with it. He was like an actual fucking cat. He'd curl up in it and sometimes even get Tangled up with it. Then he'd go to a corner or under a table and sleep there.
"Yo... Dude why the hell do you keep stealing my damn cape? " He suddenly asked. Karkats head snapped up from his Romantic novel and his face faltered into a bit of a sad expression." sleep.. "
" what? "
" I DONT GET ENOUGH OF IT " Karkat snapped in daves face. Tears SLIGHTLY Welling in his eyes.
" woah.. Waddya mean you dont get enough sleep?? " Dave asked dumbfoundedly.
" i CANT sleep.. Without youre shitty cape. I just keep on getting these terrible feelings.. And.. It sort of.. Protects me. "
Karkat finished his sentence with a half smile." oh.. Kay dude.. Well. I gotta go help john pull a prank on rose. Were gonna put janes Cake icing in her hair products. Bye. " dave winked behind his shades And stood up and walked out the room.

It was the next Night and karkat was curled up on the kitchen countertop with daves cape. He was nearly asleep when dave stormed into the room. The blonde had just had a perticulary nasty argument with john that day,So he was in quite a crap mood.
He marched over to karkat and tugged the cape out of his hands. "give me my cape you useless piece of shit.." He snarled. He grabbed the cape and walked away.

A week later karkat was sitting on His human bed. He hadnt had any sleep at all for the past week and had practically just cried. The troll sighed as there was a soft knock at the door.
"come in.. Or whatever.." Karkat sniffled sorrowfully.
The door opened and dave came in and sat on karkats bed. "karkles i'm sooooo sorry" dave choked out. "youre right though dave.. I am useless..." Dave shook his head before pulling karkat into a hug. "Karkat michael vantas. You are anything BUT Useless....i..love you"
