(Y/n) was six years old when it happened.
She was playing in the sand box of a nearby park. Her lips were pressed in concentration as she added the last few details to her masterpiece. It was looking beautiful.
That was until a group of two herbivores and two carnivores kicked it.
"Eh!? Why'd you do that!?"
One of them (a lion cub), laughed. "It was ugly! That's why!"
The others agreed. (Y/n)'s eyes were starting to water. "N-no it wasn't..." Her voice was nothing but a whisper.
The gazelle in the group stood forward. "What did you say, stupid?"
"I-I..."
They didn't let her finnish. The giraffe grabbed her by the ears and pulled.
(Y/n) yelped. "S-stop that! I-it hurts!"
They didn't stop. Instead, they threw her on the ground and started to kick her and pull at her fur. After a minute, a new voice interrupted them.
"Leave her alone!"
It was a female panda. She wore a red flower on her left ear and a frilly pink dress. They were children, but she was already huge, and her tightened fists made her even more intimidating in (Y/n)'s eyes.
The boys stared at her for a second before they started laughing.
"Who do you think you are, my mom? You can't tell us what to do, Mina!"
The panda known as Mina growled. "Oh yeah? I may not be your mom, but I can tell she won't be happy when she finds out, Ikuto!"
'Ikuto' smirked. "Well, she isn't here now, is she?"
It was Mina's turn to smirk. "I wouldn't be so sure about that."
And without anyone noticing, a tall, woman stood behind the boy. "Ikuto!"
The boy jumped and fear was evident in his face.
Mina grabbed (Y/n)'s hand and pulled her out of there as quickly as she could.
It was starting to get late when they arrived at a near pond.
Panting, (Y/n) opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted by the panda.
"No need to thank me! Those kids were being meanies, so I had to do something."
(Y/n)'s eyes widened. "C-can you read minds?!"
Mina stood proudly. "Nope, but I can read people! It's called corpo...um...corpie...no, that's not it..." She placed a finger on her chin as she thought. Then, She snapped her fingers.
"Corporal Language!"
(Y/n) awed at the young panda. "Wow, y-you must be really good at it!"
Mina deflated and sighed. "Not really. I'm not as good as my parents. They know everything about you with one look!"
"Woah!" (Y/n) was astonished.
"Yup!" Mina stood proud once more.
(Y/n) remembered her own parents and shrieked. "I have to go back! My Okaa-san is gonna freak out!"
Mina smiled. "No worries! I'll lead the way!
She grabbed (Y/n)'s small hand and raced back to the park, only to be greeted the young mother.
"(Y/n)! Where were you? I was worried sick! Are you ok?"
(Y/n) smiled bashfully. "I'm sorry for making you worry, but look! I made a new friend!" She pointed at Mina, who waved with a smile.
