Chapter 1: Girl

"Kirito-kun, look out!" Sinon called out. He looks to his shoulder and dodges a bullet. He rolled to a boulder and took cover. Bullets were shot out by rifles by another player. Sinon shoots, a feint one, to cover him, he rolls again and aims for his target. He shot, a head shot, and the enemy disintegrates into millions of pieces. Sinon stands and everything vanished. Sinon and Kirito were playing in a training zone.

Players in GGO get to practice battle strategies with their companions. Though this was their 33th time practicing. After the Death Gun event had been over, Kirito had decided to give GGO a try again in that same converted avatar of his. Of course, Asuna along with Yui allowed him to play with Sinon in GGO again. 

"You're getting better,"

"Oh? I thought I was gonna get shot back there without your help!"

"My help? Well, yeah but even if you got shot your HP gauge wouldn't go red just yet. Besides your HP gauge is still full!" her eyebrows narrowed and her eyes fixed at his HP gauge.

"Well.. umm, sorry?" a smack.

"Ouch!" he cried, his HP gauge had been reduced to 30 points.

"Now you deserved that!" she laughed. 

He scratches his head and joins her, laughing it off. They walked out of the training zone and headed outside, passing through white halls and pillars before smelling that rusty and oil smell coming of SBC Glocken, the capital city.

Seeing the dark outside made Sinon raced outside, running down the stairs while Kirito follows, walking. As soon as she got out, she takes in a deep breath and stretches. Kirito, left behind, walked towards her, seemed like he was counting steps of the stairs. She turns.

"So, Kirito-kun, what're we-----" Suddenly, Kirito felt his heart stopped and falls. 

"Kirito-kun!" she tries to catch him but his avatar fades and everything in his sight went dark. Only the faint calls of his friend were heard and later faded out.

He slowly feels consciousness returning. He raised his body, only to find him a white room. It wasn't like those hospital rooms. Everything was white, every corner, every furniture, every inch of the room but one stood out the most in that room and it was him. Like he casually wears, he wore a black long sleeved shirt and dark jeans. He moved his hands around his body and decided he's still alive.

He didn't say a word and stood then walked away from the white bed. There were no windows but there was a door. The place seemed quite fancy. There was a small table beside the bed, an expensive lamp shade, a white metal chair that stayed at a corner of the room, a cabinet, a couple of stuffed animals and books that lay on top of shelves just above the cabinet. Beside it were a display of sketches, these were now in color but it looked more like scribbles of a kinder kid's drawing.

He looked into this and saw many drawings of a somewhat person in a black outfit with a woman in a white dress. Others had a man in red, a woman in pink, a child accompanied by a blue creature and a woman wielding a bow. He gasps in realization of who might those be. By then, someone poked him.

He jumps in surprise and brings out a fist only to see a girl in a frilly white dress and bonnet. She smiles at him and gives him a piece of paper. He takes it and the girl runs off towards the door and pushes it open, she turns to him and said:

"Let's play!" she smiled and nodded to the piece of paper.

There was a 5 set of lines written on the paper. It said:

From the vast grass lands, there it lay

Women cry in horror yet stay

Like raindrops, their tears fell sluggish

"It's a failure, a disaster!"

They cried; forbidden from laughter

He looks up to her and she had stayed from where she is. She giggles and said:

"Be baptized, be reborn, be afraid," and runs off, leaving the door open. He folds the paper and places it into his pocket and follows the girl into a hall of white. What is going on, he thought as he walked carefully out to follow this strange child.
