11: Tell

I wanted to tell you. She didn't like you.

I imagined I did and you came to me for comfort and just as you did you would realize you loved me not her.

I imagined you would hold me close and kiss me but I just know it's another one of those stupid fantasies that will never come true.

Later on after school when the two of us hung out at our usual spot on the roof top you questioned me endlessly about what she said.

"I didn't want to tell you but since you keep annoying me I will" I started.

"She likes him" I said and I felt like I heard your heart shatter as your expression dropped.

"Great news for me" you mumbled sarcastically. "He likes her too."

After a pause you spoke up again. "Why does it never work out for me" and I meant to scoff internally but it came out loud.

You looked at me confused and brushed it off. I side hugged you to comfort you and rubbed my hands up and down your arm.

You laid your head in my lap and I put an extra jacket from my bag on your upper body.

Used to this behavior I knew you wouldn't get up before sleeping for a few hours.

When you fell asleep I looked up at the sky.
