There's No Easy Way (To Break Somebody's Heart)

Prologue

I just finished packing my things and now I'm ready. "Ma! Tapos na po akong mag impake. Paki-tawag naman po si Andrei at magpapatulong ako sa mga gamit ko pababa." I shouted from my room as I zipped up the last bag that I'm bringing with me.

Saktong pagpasok naman ni Andrei sa kwarto ko upang tulungan ako sa mga gamit. Bago ako lumabas nang tuluyan tiningnan ko muna ang sarili sa salamin. Just making sure I'm not haggard from all the packing.

"You'll visit us every weekends right?" My brother, Andrei, asked. I nodded. I am not really in the mood to talk to him since we aren't really in good terms to be honest.

"Siguraduhin mong bibisita ka every weekends, okay? Your school is a two-hours drive away from our home so it's better to just live in their dormitory to save time and effort." Sabi ni Mama habang niyayakap ako.

"Yes. Ma. I will." I kissed her left cheek and bid goodbye. Nandito na rin kasi ang taxi na maghahatid sa akin sa school. Nakakahiya namang paghintayin ng matagal.

"Don't skip meals, okay? And avoid eating too much unhealthy food." Nahabol pa talaga ni mama na pagsabihan ako bago ko maisara ang pintuan ng sasakyan. I just nodded and gave her a half smile.

Umandar na ang sasakyan at huling nakita ko nang tumingin ako sa may side mirror ng taxi ay ang paghampas ni Mama sa braso ng kapatid ko.

I fished out my phone from my purse and immediately contacted my friend.

"Hey, Xane. I'm on my way right now. Dumating naba sa Amore?" I asked.

"Not yet but she texted me that she's on her way na daw." She said and after that nagkamustahan ng mabilis at ibinaba ko na ang phone to text to my boyfriend that I'm on my way to the school.

He wasn't able to drive me to school since busy rin siya maghanda kasi sila ay may pasok rin bukas. We're studying in different universities since he really wanted to study in his current university right now while me, I got in, so might as well study in this school. Gusto rin ni Mama na sa Cornelius U ako mag-aaral. So, yeah here am I, currently on my way.

After the two hours long drive, I finally arrived at the university. Syempre ako na yung nagdala ng mga gamit ko patungo sa dorm. Good thing sharing rooms is not actually implented in this school so kanya-kanya talaga ng room.

I started sorting my shoes first then next my clothes, the very last thing would be my books, pens, etc.

So the school has a rule about uniforms. You can either wear it with blazer, or you can also wear it with blue, gray or white longsleeves polo shirt. You actually pair it with pleated navy skirt that is 2 inches above your knee. It also has a necktie which is in navy blue color. As for the shoes, they are really not that strict when it comes to that, so you can either wear slides, running shoes or high heels.

Our Physical Education would be every Friday afternoon between 1-4pm. We are also required to join clubs. I'll probably talk about that later.

I texted Xane that I'm already here and still waiting for her response.

Then my phone rang so I answered it right away, "Amore is here. Where the heck are you?" I could tell from her tone that she's annoyed abour something.

"My dorm room, just finished organizing stuffs."

"We're here at the cafeteria. Mind joining us?"

"I'll be right there in five." I hang up and started to change my clothes. I also decided to take a bath.

I actually know the way around the university since after orientation there is a whole day tour around the school.

"Iris! Here!" I heard Xane's voice and instantly looked at there direction. Amore with here usual all-black look and Xane with her bubbly attitude. She's smiling from ear-to-ear as I approached them.

"How's life? Kidding aside. Kakain kayo? Ba't sa cafeteria?" Tanong ko habang papaupo ako.

"Katatapos lang ni Xane kumain nung dumating ako." Amore said.

Yes, as what I can see there is still a plate on the table that has been used. "So, kailan mo sasagutin si Vin, Amore?" I asked preferring to Vincent Ardiente who's been courting her like forever.

"Dito rin ata mag-aaral si Vin, Amor!" Xane said almost shrieking. Amore winced as if she did not expect that we'll talk about him. Nandiri pa nga siya.

"Change the topic, please. Don't wanna talk about him, really."

"Anyways, we'll check if same sched ba tayo. Akin na mga sched niyo." Xane insisted so we gave her our schedule which is saved on our phones.

"So, we have Literature, Chem, PE, Foreign Language and English. Five subjects not bad. I can live with it." She said as she returned the phone to us.

Nagkwentuhan lang kami hanggang sa naubos ang oras at kanya-kanya na kaming bumalik sa dorm. I actually want to see the garden of the univ kaya imbes bumalik sa dorm pumarito ako sa garden.

The view is so refreshing. May mga maliliit na tables with chairs sa paligid. There is also hanging plants sa may unahan. I can see the sky from the glass roof of the garden. It was actually a good idea to follow my mom's choice.

Habang tinatanaw ko ang kalangitan, "Para kang tanga d'yan. May papikit-pikit pang nalalaman." I heard someone said. In fact malapit lang sa akin yung nagsalita. Tinapunan ko naman ng tingin ang epal na hindi marunong sa salitang, 'mind your own business'.

"Are you referring to me?" Maldita kong sabi habang tiningnan siya ng masama.

He shrugged and avoided my eye contact then said, "Kung natamaan ka edi ikaw."

Aba! "Ang kapal. Sino ka ba ha? Why don't you mind your own business? Bored ka ba at wala kang mapagtrippan?" Inis na inis kong sabi. Kumunot na nga yung noo ko.

He just laughed and left.

Iniwan niya akong inis na inis dahil sinira niya ang maganda kong araw!

I will definitely remember that face!
