Carrot watched the family for a moment longer before laying his body back down.
The sadness was eating at his insides, sharp and painful. It hurt so bad. Carrot closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"I wish I wasn't alone."
It seemed so harmless. Such a harmless wish. Filled with so much desperation and need. It didn't seem like it could hurt anybody. It only seemed like it would help Carrot.
It only destroyed.
It would only cause more pain.
It would only cause more sadness.
It was the biggest mistake of Carrots little carrot life.
