Chapter 1: Investigating

Nat POV
Everyone shuffled into the chill meeting room, everyone, even hologram messaging of other avengers that couldn't be here like Carol, Shirt and the Guardians. Fury walked into the room and Tony decided to finally make an appearance.  He sauntered in 10 minutes later than his last predicted ETA.

"Thank you for making an appearance, Stark" Fury deadpanned.

"I'm as early as you will ever get me Fury." Tony sassed.

"Do you need a watch because that can be arranged or can I trust you to work on you time keeping for next time?"

Everyone snickered as he edged into a seat next to his science buddy and Capsicle.

Fury moved across the room to a projector showing a pinpoint of where none other than Steve Rogers was found. On this image was the earth's heat signature when Steve was found and it clearly showed a figure through the ice even though it was deep.

"Steve Rogers was found approximately here," he said pointing, "so we thought that there may be a possibility that others may have been frozen over time. This could have many possibilities of prehistoric and modern discoveries of new fossils." Everyone looked at Steve and laughed under their breaths. Fury coughed expectantly and the muttering silenced.

"As I was saying we also know now that enhanced humans can survive years in cyropods or ice. All I have to say is that you will be on standby if anything such as a hair off someone's head is found you are required to be there immediately, dismissed." Everyone wandered out of the room stuck in trains of thought about possibly more capsicles.

Steve POV
His head felt like it could explode it was reeling, full of ideas, could there really be more people frozen?

Over the next few days he was quieter than usual determined to make a proper coherent thought on this matter. He was very nervous everyone the phone was mentioned ot rang because what if it was that mission Fury has mentioned and they were collecting a new member? He wasn't ready for that yet, another person to adapt to the real world.

What would he say - Erm hi I was frozen too because I was enhanced I survived, my name is Steve by the way. It just seemed a bit too frightening and being the leader he shouldn't really show his nerves as it would throw the rest of the team. What if they didn't want to join the team? Did they even get a choice? What if they were dead when they were found?

Too many what ifs. He found himself pacing in front of Wanda and Nat who appeared to be in deep conversation about the same issues he was debating in his head. He plopped himself down next to Nat who turned and immediately added him to the conversation.

"So Steve what is your opinion on this? Because personally I believe we have plenty enough members in our squad." She commented. He agreed but they needed to protect those that could be manipulated easily by their enemies, aka new members.

Time skip
It had been quite a few weeks since the meeting and there had still been no missions so the tensions was building on everyone. Most of the Avengers were doing some sort of physical or mental training to take their minds off the matter. All Fury was now doing was helping to stress everyone more and more each visit by keeping them 'posted' on the current events. They were basically pointless notifications that you cannot remove as he pestered them everyday multiple time through email etc. Everyone was on their very last straw leaving their nerves henging by a thread which just added to the overall tension. It was only a matter of time before someone snapped at Fury and he had a clear feeling that the bets were on Nat or Tony (literally. Have you seen Clint when he has 10 dollars?)

"Avengers assemble in the meeting room." He could hear the collective groan of everyone and a though came to him, would Tony even show up this time.

Everyone figited in seats. Number 1- don't put over 10 highly trained world professionals in a room, Number 2- when they are stressed that is a just asking karma to come and bite you.

Nat stared at the floor with her knuckles raw and white gripping her chair; Clint was staring intently at an arrow drawing a little face on it and showed Nat 'Mr Angry Arrow' and then compared it to her; Thor was eating raw poptarts keeping a close eye on his packet as Clint tried to take one; Bruce pretended to be invested in the conversation with Fury over something or other to waste time; Stephen stepped out of his portal and was immediately harassed by his cloak and his only explanation was that it was 'scared'; Tony was nowhere to be found leaving Fury huffing and starting without him. Bruce sent an apologetic look over to him as Fury had escaped his conversation.

"As you know we are slowly processing the earth to search it for pieces of history. So far nothing of significance has been found-"

Tony rocked up cutting of Fury leaving him scowling.

"Hey thought this would be of interest." Tony said and swiped across to the screen replacing Fury's charts with the breaking news.

"Breaking news: Young girl is rescued from biggest ever avalanche, she is thought to be the only survivor. Her life was saved by a tracking dog who caught her scent as she was buried in the snow.

After rescue she miraculously survives life threatening injuries and it is mentioned that she was clinically dead 3 times before her her heart finally started and continued.

The young individual is estimated to be around (y/a) and has not yet been identified. If you know this person please contact -891027793 as soon as possible.

The young rescuer is sending prayers around the world for donations as the you girl is now stranded in the French Alps with no full healthcare as the professionals are inable to reach her due to the avalanche. The go fund me page has already raised over $9500 but it cannot help her to healthcare that could save her life. Please donate if you can-"

Tony cut off the news turning off the board and announced, "I'm bringing the kid to America we have to help, who knows where her parents are at."

People nodded and showed their support on the idea.

"Right then she is coming to America!"
