Missy had been the Senator's daughter for a year and it was beginning to drive her crazy. She was tired of the constant protection detail and invasions of her privacy. She wasn't much of a party girl, and craved quiet alone time with her thoughts and not her overbearing father's goons.
One night she devised a plan that would keep the guards from finding her so easily after ditching them...that would show them that she didn't need the protection they clearly thought she needed. She had slipped away from them many times before, but had always gone to the same places. This time however, she didn't want to be found so easily. She needed time to think. She was a senior in college trying to figure out what to do with her life once she graduated and got out from under her father's thumb.
After ducking the protection detail, she made her way down to the beach three hours away. She had never gone that far before, they wouldn't think to look there this time as she usually stuck to libraries, book stores, and coffee shops. Sitting on the quiet beach with the moon high in the sky, she breathes in the fresh air. No one would disturb her at this time of night, not with school still being in session and it being a week night. She had thought this out for a week and executed the plan without fail...so why did it feel as if she was being followed still?
After hours of not being able to get the feeling away that the protection detail was still there, she decided to pack up and head back annoyed that she didn't get the time she wanted to have privacy and think through her future. As she was on her way to the car, she heard a crash behind her, but when she turned back she saw a drunk guy stumbling out from the restaurant not far down the beach. Shaking her head at her nerves, she climbed in the car and headed back to the house. When she got in the car and started it up, she realized that she needed some gas on her way back, she added the stop in her mind remembering seeing a station on her way up that was on her side of the highway. Stopping for gas, she got out and quickly got it started not liking that she didn't see her detail...they usually would have pulled in behind her and started yelling at her already... something was off. Where were they? She looks around and sighs finally grabbing out her phone and trying to call the man in charge of her protection not caring that he would yell, something was off...she needed them and it was all her fault. A car pulled in behind her car at the gas station, but that wasn't odd since two other cars were at the two other pumps...but where were the drivers? In the store possibly grabbing snacks for a trip or coffee to keep them awake? Sure...that had to be the explanation. She sighed softly and tried to call the guard again when she felt something prick her neck and as her consciousness faded.
TWO DAYS LATER:
Senator Anderson paces his office as he waits for the protection detail to update him, she had run off yet again...but this time was different. There was something wrong. She always called, always apologized. A knock on the door has him tense up. "Come in." The guard that should've been protecting his daughter walks in as he looks down... this wouldn't be a good meeting. It was time to call in help. "Call Thomas Blake, he helped me before with a problem. I trust him, then once you call him. Don't bother coming back for work." The senator turns away and covers his face. Yes, he said it calmly, but he was anything but calm. He wanted to hurt someone...do something... but he couldn't he didn't know what to do or where to start. Thomas would know...he would find her and bring her home.
She cried softly...was anyone coming for her? Of course they were...her father wouldn't rest until she was safe. But at what cost...and what would they do before they got whatever they were after? She tried to remove the blindfold, but they had tied it on too tightly, just the bounds on her wrists and ankles. There would be no surviving this...not even if her father gave into whatever their demands were. If they even had any...maybe they just kidnapped a random person... that could be it right? "Missy Anderson. Your father owes us quite a bit of money. Too bad he doesn't respond to any threats. However, your kidnapping...that'll get his attention. We want our money. He will pay for cutting down on our business by taking men we had in government out," someone says nearby. Was he the boss? Were there more men around...watching her? She couldn't tell what they had done to her, but she could tell that she was on a bed....she had little clothing on... this wouldn't end well...not if her father stuck to his same ideas about threats.
"This is Thomas," Thomas Blake answers. "Senator Anderson needs your help again. His daughter was kidnapped and we have no leads. We need your help." He sighs and shakes his head. "I'm on my way." Thomas ends the call and heads out with his go-bag and goes straight to the airport knowing if the Senator is calling he is desperate. Thomas and the Senator had a good professional relationship and were decent friends, but he didn't usually call him in for help unless absolutely necessary.
Senator Anderson paced back and forth as he waits for Thomas to arrive, they had to get her back. She had been for 60 hours...two and a half days...these monsters had taken a video and sent it to him about 2 hours ago....she was half naked and tied to a bed...she looked terrified and who knew what those monsters would do to her. A knock on the door makes him jump as his guard insists on getting the door for protection for the Senator and sees Thomas on the other side. "Thomas is here." The Senator nods for him to open the door and looks a decade older than usual from lack of sleep as Thomas looks concerned. "How long has she been gone?" "60 hours...they sent a video....they're demanding 5 million dollars...I don't have that kind of money..." He looks close to a break down as Thomas takes a deep breath and nods. "Okay...then I guess I need to start now without hesitation." Senator Anderson looks relived and falls into his chair. "I know if anyone can find her, you can." Thomas nods and places his hand on the Senator's arm. "I'll do my best, John."
