Freaky feelings

When the kiss ended I stared in shock at Evan. Most of the student body were crowded in the hall celebrating my acceptance into the cheer squad and had also witnessed mine and Evan’s everlasting snog fest. I wasn’t quite sure what this meant. Did Evan like me? I’m pretty sure he didn’t. I had known Evan most of his life yet he doesn’t just keep to one girl, there was a reason he was labelled a player and I wasn’t about to get played.

I gave Evan an impassive look and his grin fell in response.

“What?” He asked worry lacing his voice.

“Why did you do that?” I whispered angrily my cheeks burning furiously.

“Do what?!” He asked sounding seriously puzzled at my question.

“Kiss me!” I screamed, aware of the attention I was causing.

He grabbed my face so we appeared to be in an intimate embrace and whispered in my ear “Did you think it was real?”

My silence answered his question before he looked shocked back at me and stared into my eyes.

“Well I can say a career in acting is a good way to go.” Evan spoke without humour.

“Hahaha… hilarious Evan!” I laughed unconvincingly as Evan gave me a worried look. “Like I would actually want to kiss you!” Evan just stared at me with an unreadable expression. “Ha… you’re so funny. I’m not one of your fan girls… I’m your friend.” I laughed uncomfortably again. Not quite sure if Evan could read through my fake laughs, I plastered a smile on my face, unsure whether I was even considered a friend.

“Yeah… a friend.”  Evan smiled genuinely.

He momentarily shocked me with his rare beautiful smile that I had to blink out of my daze.

“Well I got to get home… so see you.” I called behind my shoulder as I raced out of the sports hall and left the chaos behind as I ran out of school.

To say my day was interesting was an understatement. I couldn’t believe I had been such a fool. Thinking the kiss was real! Stupid. Stupid. STUPID! You silly girl Paisley! you knew not to fall for Evan’s charms. He’s a player. That’s what he does he doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about anyone, especially not me. I’m his friend. I wanted to be his friend. There was truth to this statement yet I couldn’t shake the feeling of thinking it was a lie. Close to tears I realised how foolish I had been. I had always been the hopeless romantic type. Unlike most girls I hadn’t been in a serious relationship for a long time. Yes I had been kissed before I wasn’t some highly religious teen who felt like rebelling. Though honestly I had never kissed someone and felt what I had felt like what I did with Evan. I was unexperienced to say the least and Evan was the opposite pretty much playing the field twenty four seven yet I still couldn’t shake the feelings from the kiss. But I was going to… I wasn’t going to let any boy break my heart or cause me any emotional distress, especially Evan Garcia.
