Aurora

Prologue

In the year 2550, humanity has evolved greatly. We have evolved mentally to the point that we unlocked some untapped powers of human brain such as use of telekinesis, telepathic abilities, stopping time and being super smart.

All this was a result of an experiment done about 300 years ago, done by Dr. Nakahara. He tried to prolong human lifespan and instead he created a cure for a curse gods put upon us a long time ago, which prohibited us the full potential of our powers. The curse was put on us because of disobedience and human nature to be curious. Dr. Nakahara became rich and powerful because of his creation. He made this cure available to the global population, which made the average human IQ about 500 or more, as opposed to the previous average of 120 IQ points. This spawned the Nakahara dynasty. They were owners of one of the greatest corporation that went on discovering more and more new and interesting things. One of them was their space program, which made it possible to travel through hyperspace with a hyper drive.

Humans then started colonizing other planets and soon we were everywhere in the galaxy. Unfortunately we found out that we were the only stage two civilization at the time. No other intelligent life could travel the stars, so we did not intervene and let them evolve on their own. Still it was pretty amazing that we were the only race in the entire galaxy that could evolve this high. We found traces of destruction along the way, but we could determine that those civilizations were not as advanced as we are, although they came pretty close.

They were mostly stage one civilizations, so called planetary civilizations. And they could travel from star to star, but could not conquer the galaxy like we did. They must have found other stage one civilizations and came to conflict with them, then they annihilated each other. Because of that, it can sometimes become really lonely out there. However, in the 25th century, we have found another civilization of stage one capacity that is on the verge of becoming a stage two civilization. In another century or so, we could be making the first contact with them.

It is now year 2550, and we still have not made the first contact. The Council has not decided yet whether to contact them or let them find us on their own. Of course the council doesn't have the power to decide on their own, they are merely the puppets of the ruling corporations. The corporations pushed to make the first contact, in secret they wanted to expand their market and get richer. So they decided that they will make the first contact. Earth government sent out the ambassadors alongside some military escorts. This was allowed to happen because as mentioned before, big corporations control Earth government and the human colonies.

The four major corporations are Agricultural Management, who control the food industry, Apex Corp, who control the military industry, Black Hole Entertainment, who control the media and the entertainment industry and finally Nakahara Corp, who control the power supply industry, technological and scientific advances.

I am a hacker. I am also one of the best hackers in the galaxy. My name is Phoenix Kai. One day I got a job offering, payment was handsome, so I accepted it. The job was to hack into a big corporation server on site and download the sensitive data and a program called Lost Sun, that could decipher transmissions between the corporations and could make a great deal of damage to them. The mission went south and I became the most wanted man in the galaxy for stealing the documents, they don't know that I have the Lost Sun. Luckily, I have a Hyper-enabled ship and I was able to run to a long lost human colony abandoned about 200 years ago. It was also one of the first human colonies, one of the five original called the Aurora colonies.

They are called Aurora colonies because they were all named Aurora and then numbered with roman numerals. Every colony planet in its separate solar system, but still close together in the fourth quadrant of the galaxy. I am currently residing on Aurora IV (4). It is a nice, warm planet, full of dark history. The people here went mad after the great plague of 2347. The plague made them insane to the point of not only being dangerous to others, but also to inflict self-harm. In the end the subject died from bleeding out through their eyes, ears and mouth. Mostly, they died of suffocation with their own blood, so the deaths were not as painful as slowly dying through blood loss. The bacteria that caused the plague is long since gone, but the human race did not colonialize the planet again in fear of bringing back the plague. So it remained unpopulated for two centuries.

My employer now wants me to use the information I recovered to destroy the other Aurora colonies, but I don't think I can do it. My family is on Aurora II (2), but I have another ace up my sleeve, the program I stole from Apex Corp is capable of intercepting and deciphering the transmissions between the major corporations. My employer does not know of this, neither do the corporations. I think I can use the program to get rid of the iron fist of the ruling corporations and the power they have over Earth Government.
